2017 was only 5 years ago. what the frick are you talking about
5 years ago is 17 years ago.
>cruise: The coffin we found..
>blonde chick: Sarcophagus
>cruise: Whatever. There was writing on it...
>blonde chick: Hieroglyphics
>cruise: Respectfully, I'm not interested in archeological jargon right now
who wants the protag of a mummy movie to be some moronic meathead?
>who wants the protag of a mummy movie to be some moronic meathead?
dumbass israeli movie executives who want white men to only be relegated to the roles of homer simpson and chris pratt quipmeister
He was drunk. The scene takes place in a pub and they show him drinking 2 more beers. His moronic talk makes sense then.
because it was one of the worst movies of the decade
it's rare to have tom cruise be bad in anything but alex kurtzman found a way
Not even Cruise could make it appealing.
This is why I passed on it
The mummy I was exposed to was a fun Indiana Jones flick with a fun cast
This shit was just looked dreary and hardly exciting at all
the old mummy was overrated as well, basically a knock-off Indiana.
was it though? it is a really entertaining movie.
The trailer leaked early unfinished and soured everyone in it.
I wouldn't say 400m is bad. all previous mummy films made the same so its probably target for this kind of movies. the only problem is this one cost a lot like 125m to produce and bad reception of classic monsters universe forced studio to rework strategy
Do understand what inflation is?
Bomb do hard?
I'm not quite sure what you're saying but I think the rest of us should probably evacuate
Because it was meant to be a romance movie but they redid everything at the last minute
People have shit taste. Or good sense. I dunno I never watched the movie
ACK
It didn't make enough munny
The truth is it did not flop. It was psy-op by mainstream media and Disney shills to destroy Dark Universe right at the begining.
Facts (with sources):
>Deadline estimates that the film will top out at $375 million worldwide, complete with $75 million from the domestic box office and $300 million overseas.

They estimated the movie to earn 375M for their calculations and that's when they already called it a flop. The movie exceeded expectations and earned 409M with over 330M overseas. Universal was proud of this result and they reported almost 20M profit.
>In fairness, "The Mummy" actually made a little money, $80 million domestically and $409 million worldwide (remember what we said about Cruise's overseas bankability?), a profit of about $19 million on a $195 million budget. However, the response was so bad it tanked a would-be franchise and forced Universal to rethink their legacy characters.

>Carpou said. “But the film is terrific entertainment, and overall it’s going to be Tom [Cruise’s] biggest international opening of all time. The accumulation adds up to a box-office total we’re proud of.”
Nick Carpou, president of domestic theatrical distribution for Universal Pictures

As we know, The Mummy indeed set Cruise opeing record and it was his highest opening weekend before Top Gun Maverick.
This means the movie did not flop, however it was criticized a lot for setting up Universal monster cinematic Dark Universe. The concept was hated since the very begining. Even before the movie came out journalists, media and bloggers were already against the Dark Universe and they needed something to release their frustrations. That's all.
Who cares, Sofia said that due to Universal studios deal she will play the mummy regardless of the fate of Universal Monstersverse. I hope she returns in Dark Army as it is supposed to feature classic monsters from 1940s and new versions from 21st century.
Because it wasn't a sequel or reboot. Nobody goes to see something new anymore.
-Leaked video of unfinished scenes, always hurts a film.
-Previous version is well-liked, so this turns off those who were fans of it.
-Incredibly ugly woman with a manface, no breasts and a chin dent used to sell the movie as a sex symbol when that BR b***h is anything but.
-Movie was a bore.
because it sucked
