        >culture impact is changing your instagram profile.
That's pretty sad. Defending a terrible movie for pretty visuals is about the same as defending Mario for its big box office. You are what you hate.

having characters you fully identify with is cultural impact, yes
why do you think total commercial flops like blade runner 2049 or old ass movies like pic rel are still relevant? they resonate with people

in zoomer parlance, miles is the "literally me" but for blacks. THAT'S culture

They movie was fine. It's a fun watch, but then you never really think about it. Those other movies though obviously stick in your mind long after.

        >tlw essentially changed the direction of animated films
What. That was ITSV after 2018.

Unironically this. Mario is like McDonalds. Omniprescent, serves billions, and you know exactly what you're getting, but you're a fool if you want more than exactly what you're getting.

Movies don't need messages to appeal to normies. That's why the avatar movies are blockbusters, you just watch the sexy tall blue people reenacting ferngully/waterworld

More like anti-SJW grifters like pretending that leftists and critics hate that it’s not diverse so they have more material for their vapid culture war shenanigans.

      lmao how
every other NES game that came after had more impact in the videogame industry. Mario still defaults to platformer gameplay this many years later

It was an extremely mid-tier movie. It didn't get high ratings and high profits because people love the movie. It got high ratings and high profits because people hate Disney. That's also how Biden got elected.

At this point Mario is more well known than Mickey Mouse.

It checked all the right boxes to please gamers, and that’s literally it. Nothing special about it otherwise, it has a really weak plot and characters, with half naked English voice acting, coasting on Easter eggs, brand recognition, and actually being faithful to the franchise it’s adapting to the big screen. If this movie had nothing to do with Mario, it would be a forgettable movie only known for good visuals. However, it feels weird even to raise this hypothetical because it really is just a bare bones Mario movie, if it somehow wasn’t a Mario movie it really couldn’t exist.

Because it didn’t create any, but pulled from the impact the video games have had in order to be so successful

It's Mario. What more cultural impact can he have that he hasn't already?
