Series is a lot more safe edgy than the pilot, plus 'pirates that don't do anything' informed attribute vibe, they sit around like a sitcom and wisecrack at each other. It's a question of degree, it's not awful, just a step down from the standard the pilot set.
the only remotely "edgy" joke in the pilot was the "i don't touch the gays" line. everything else was basically the same sort of humor as the show, i think the pilot had more slapstick and expressive faces though. the pilot had better timing as well. i like both but the pilot definitely did some stuff better, its a shame stamper is such a homosexual moron.

As he puts it, there's room for everyone. And by the end of the season, Cherri decides that what Angel is doing isn't so silly after all.
