The car chase in this is so fricking goddam good and the bat tub fight scene is so fricking hilariously moronic its a 9/10 for me despite what book gays say about cruise. The second one just sucks ass though.

all the whites except for the protags are idiots/evil, and they inserted some badass black woman ex-soldier to help Reacher. Also, the black sheriff is actually in the book, but he's given a more prominent role in the show, but overall it's not terribly woke.

the whites that are not idiots or evil include Reacher, the sexpot coptress, the good cop whos he and his pregnant wife get murdered, the accountant, his wife, the woman who worked with Joe Reacher, Reacher's mom (RIP), the diner waitress, the autoshop feller who lends Reacher his van, the couple who the black detective done broke through their hotel room wall, the parents of the dead truck driver, the old guy who apologizes to Reacher for pushing past him in the end (author cameo!!!!)
The final showdown was kind of shit.
Some of the dialogue felt like it was trying way too hard to be clever and "snappy" in a Joss Whedon/Aaron Sorkin sense.
But overall it was still solid fun. I enjoyed what I watched.
I was annoyed by the obvious 1v1 scenes as though they were all having a bossfight. Not to mention that the expert marksman villain was wielding his rifle like a moron.
Reacher's black chick friend is also unbelievably annoying to look at and listen to.
This. The part where everyone got their epic showdown with a baddie felt really forced and unnecessary. Also, I just hate how people mess with Reacher casually in this like he couldn't just eat them alive if he wanted.

Even Jai Courtney was memorable in this as the henchman, and that guy sucks. Rosamund Pike was also still hot in this.
it was okay. they pozzed it a little bit, but it's a decent adaptation of the book.
