It's because it's a running gag in the movie that the disguises always work even when they realistically shouldn't

It's how Shark was able to disguise as Mona Lisa and that scientist's dad and Piranha was able to disguise as a waiter while no one bats an eye

You know the thing I never got with animated movies featuring anthropomorphic animals is how can every animal with human intelligence can achieve a functional society without massive unrest since the animal kingdom isn’t exactly kind with the idea of equality. What about interbreeding? Do the government need to prevent species from l making genetic abominations the same way we look incest?

Ehh, most of these kinds of settings tend to go with one of the safe options in regards to mixed-species offspring:
A: Twins. One human, one furry.
B: Human baby, but with animal ears and tail
C: Furry with animal bits toned down, shorter ears, shorter muzzle.
      D: One, then the other.

      Dishonorable mention:

This movie was very enjoyable but it deeply bothered me how outside of the main cast there wasnt a SINGLE other anthro character in the entire fricking film.

      Anonymous

I mean, there probably were more elsewhere, just far away from the movie, I guess.
Really should've been more animals mixed into the background, it's just weird that there was literally zero outside of the main cast.

What makes it worse is that despite the movie's whole plot and the whole premise behind everything, 100% of every single animal-person seen or mentioned in the entire movie was either openly evil, pretending NOT to be evil, or was ex-evil, no exceptions.

        >spoiler
you know anon that kind of might have been the point

          Anonymous

Nah, the point is that anyone can be evil and anyone can be good. Prejudice and racism and all that, yadda yadda. The issue here is that zero animal people are shown as explicitly good, even the one guy that looked to be good ended up being the most evil of the whole pile. All of this really just spins right back to "there should've been some rando animal people in the crowd shots."

can we admit this movie was mediocre at best, and the reason it has a high user score on RT is because animated movies in the last five years have been dogshit, which in turn makes this movie look like the next big thing?

Zootopia: Movie made with cute characters in an interesting world, aims for the whole "racism" plot, buf falls on its face repeatedly, and the twist villain is only IN the movie for like 3 minutes total, not even there long enough to justify her actions, she basically went Hitler because a guy 100x her size treats her a little roughly in a job she could've easily quit. If Nick and/or Judy were even half as appealing as they were, the movie would've flopped.
The Bad Guys: Movie with an okay idea behind the premise, the "can't judge a book by its cover" angle. The plot and writing is weak, but JUST good enough that kids wont really care. The twist villain is dumb, but at least he's around for quite a while and is a recurring character for most of the movie. Again, though, the writing is weak, but sufficient. The biggest saving graces of TBG is that the characters and the animation are 1000/10, the most stylish movie released in a while, and pulled off the "2D animation styles in 3D thing" 10000x better than Turning Red. I mean, hell, even that big lug Misty was an A+++ character in both character and animation. Probably the most stylish 3D movie I've seen in quite a while.

Yeah, it was very bland and forgettable. The only thing I remembered from this movie was how annoying the love interest was, the biggest Mary Sue I've seen in years. The worldbuilding was exceptionally crappy too. Also I don't get the fascination with the Wolf/Snake ship, even though I'm a massive fujo. I saw some pages from the books with them that looked pretty cute and shippy, but in the movie, they had like zero chemistry.

The Bad Guys movie we got is better than the Zootopia movie we got.

          And that's facts.

But you're free to interpret whenever that means TBG is great, or Zootopia is ass garbage Disney schlock.

You're just coping with your mediocre movie being beaten by Lightyear and minions, while Zootopia made 1 billion dollars worldwide, you're movie could barely break beyond 300 millions, that around 30% of Zootopia's earnings
Not to mention the smart humour, the great character writing and the fantastic plot with an incredible twist at the end

zootopia tried to sell me on this sob story and villian plot twist which doesn't work because the plot twist is the same one used many times before and by disney. oh you thought the lion was behind all this? haha did that suvbert your expectation!?

TIL that Disney shills apparently comes in different flavors and varieties.

Because the issues with Zootopia is that it's milquetoast safespace Disney shit.

The original plot might've been "ow the edge" depressing, but that'd actually have been exciting in itself if Disney went that route, because Disney is boring and predictable to a T.

You're not wrong, since it went the safe & boring Disney route instead of the wild original script.

It's a film that seems to be carried mainly by its artstyle (cgi animators being able to blend cgi with more traditional 2d styles still feels pretty damn novel) and cute premise. As far as writing goes, it has literal fart jokes in it.
