Because she's a seriously boring character. Look, I've trying to acquaint myself with classic stories from DC characters and Batgirl was on the list because she's always prevalent in merchandise, games, etc.
But holy shit are her stories boring.
    >but that's how girls were wtritten in the 60s-70s it's not the character's fault
No, frick off. Supergirl and Mary Marvel stories are quaint and quirky, Rita Farr is great in the og Doom Patrol. Batgirl, is like they didn't know what the frick to do with the character.

yeah, she was always better as oracle, but apparently people (didio) preferred her as batboy with breasts

Sad agree. TNBA was her high point. But the comic character was obviously something DC editorial got saddled with from the tv show and never got past the pop era where she was born. Which is weird, because as you mention, Mary Marvel and Supergirl held their own.

Batman editorial actively disliked her as a vestigial element of the 66 show and wanted to get rid of her and Robin. Dick survived because he was a very popular character and Titans editorial fostered him.

I don’t know if Fox approached Timm or if Timm approached Fox, but one of the parties asked the other if they wanted to make a Catwoman series as a spinoff of BTAS but the other party wasn’t interested and it never went anywhere.

Techinically he’s working on that new Batman show with JJ Abrams, but in terms of another DCAU show, I doubt it. Seems like it’s been too long and it had a proper finale (Actually 2 since they thought S2 of JLU was gonna be the last one.)

That was scorched earth though, there was literally no way to come back from Batman's identity being exposed and Gordon getting fired.

Also the framing of the story: the moment you see the scarecrow the tension instantly dissolves.

My honest to god theory is that writers noticed how good Tara and Kevin's chemistry was in TNBA and pushed for a relationship. The writer who made them officially a couple in Batman Beyond, Hilary J Bader, must've had some kinks. She's also responsible for the Nightwing/Catwoman pairing in You scratch my back, and the Roxy Rocket episode. Too bad no one can ask her this stuff because she's been dead for 20 years.

I think Kevin is just that good a voice actor. You could really feel some emotion when he talked with Selina or Talia. Made the romance feel believable.

Out of context, that scene almost felt like she was coming out to him as a prostitute. But maybe I just read too much into it.

Dick and Babs were hardly a couple in BTAS universe and Babs only considered it puppy love. Your competition was with Batman my guy. Babs probably would have dumped Dick for you in a heartbeat.

Redheads and little black dresses are an unbeatable combination. I want Babs to make a fortune in crypto JUST to see her in sexy yet elegant dresses more often.

They probably didn't want to taint the Batman brand with a "girl show for girls" attatched to it. Even though the Barbara they came up with was a sexual coiled spring wrapped up in a lithe little husky voiced package. If they had leaned into that a bit, maybe with some romance with a Jason Bard adaption, Ted Kord, or even Dick, and up the sexually charged innuendos a bit, it could have been fun.

As much as i agree that Batman needs some more female content, Batgirl is way too associated with Bruce as a side character to do it. She is simply boring. Just have Batman consistently cross over with another female led franchise like how Black Widow is with Daredevil or Hawkeye.

I would love for someone to take Babs seriously as a full character in her own right, including being a mature woman, a sexual being, and with an impish sense of humor. But modern adaptions would probably either go into grimdark territory to keep her from being too girly, or CW tier drama just to get eyeballs from the shippers. Hard to find any sort of real balance these days.

Timm tried to pitch a Nightwing/Catwoman spin-off show instead, which predictably got canned.

Further proof that it was the other creative forces and not Timm that's responsible for BTAS being good.

        >Who the frick cares about Catwoman

The fact that you even ask this shows how hard DC failed the character. In the 90's, coming off of Batman Returns, she was THE Badgirl of comics. Easily DC's top female character, even more than Wonder Woman.

Then DC let Brubaker and Cooke sanitize the character and she's been Bruce's property ever since.
