Why didnt he go teach at a community college?

Why didn’t he go teach at a community college?
He could easily get a six figure job at a big pharma with his credentials
Even by simply moving to canada he could get a respectable job a free healthcare

Kek in Canada they would have euthanized him in the first episode, no more show.

Because of Flynn. He had to have enough time off work to attend to his disabled son, anywhere else and he'd be working longer hours and would have much less vacation.
Also he was a coward in season 1, and probably for a decade or so before that.

First of all his name is Walt Jr. Second of all he didn't need "attending", he was self-sufficient.

Walt never seemed like the type to name his son after himself. I guess he was always a narcissist but didn't show it as overtly back then

It’s only seen as narcissistic now. Up through most of the 20th century it’s just how you named your firstborn son.

Because he just wanted a good excuse to do bad things. He's fundamentally an awful person, and the cancer gave him an excuse to stop being a coward, which is why he gets so upset when he finds out it's in remission.

That works as an explanation, but it isn't really that satisfying.
But it's fine, you see this problem with a lot of characters in fiction. They are highly competent for the story, but were apparently completely idle before the start of the story.
It's the same thing with Kevin Spacey in House of Cards.
He should've already been President by the time the show started

Half the show is examining how he is a narcissistic butthole who’s narcissism is self destructive

He was a spiteful arrogant butthole and that’s why he left big pharma in the first place and didn’t take his friends help

I didn't so much get the feeling with that because he'd worked his way up in congress, but then just gotten stuck as a whip for ages because of nepotism. From what I remember anyway

Most senators can’t make the jump to executive roles. They every year take yes/no positions on divisive policy and things that were cool 20 years ago become millstones. Parties are hesitant to chose legislators as executives because every vote will be brought up on the campaign trail.

i forget what exactly went down between Walt and his rich friends but one way or another he got left out of a business deal that would have made him rich as well.
This broke walt. He was very competent but after getting left in the dust he spiraled into a bit of self pity and loathing. Decades of depression and pent up rage erupted when he found out he had cancer. And he wielded his mind like a weapon.
        tl;dr
        >white man grows up being told the world belongs to him
        >world ignors white man because who tf is he
        >white man mad, white man smash
Walt and Micheal Douglass from Falling Down should be friends

It's strongly implied that Gretchen was Walt's partner at the time of the company's founding, but she left him for Elliott for some undisclosed reason. Also, neither of them cheated Walt out of anything, he was the one who walked and didn't look back.

It’s never outright stated, but it’s implied that he was dating the woman and got pissed off and imploded the relationship and his job, basically ragequit the whole thing, because he felt like her parents and her and Elliott and everyone all looked down on him for being lower class.

thanks for the clarification. So his pride was an issue from the beginning. And he was beating himself over it but also couldnt admit he did it to himself

High school stem teachers get paid better the college professors and have no research expectations

You become a professor for the lab and opportunity to publish

He could've also asked whatshisface for a job at the company he stared, and probably would've been paid high 6 figures.

But he didn't, because pride and ego or cowardice or something.
Could've taught at a university too. People would've actually enjoyed his classes, and he would've been able to enjoy his work more than teaching dumbass kids the difference between acidic and basic. Being a prof at a college would've also probably meant opportunities for research.

can an american give a serious response to the premise that he would receive no medical treatment without either paying upfront or going into large amounts of debt? between 1/3 and 1/2 of people get cancer in their lifetimes and i can't believe there are tens of millions of americans either dropping dead untreated or remortgaging their homes to pay for it without it being a bigger political issue.

Realistically he would at absolute worst get a paper divorce giving her the house so he could take it as debt and die with it.
Most of his money concerns are about paying for junior and skyler’s lives for the next decade or two, not medical stuff.
But yeah our medical system is that bad and the psychopaths have convinced the left half of the bell curve that socialized medicine is evil because then blacks and queers would get healthcare or whatever.

tbh i can't remember if she worked or not or what the sons needs were and if she was a full time carer, but i imagined a public school teacher of all people would have access to fairly decent insurance.

      I can answer this.
He was a high school teacher so he had insurance. He'd have to pay the max out of pocket for his treatment so about 5k to 10k per year assuming his health insurance was shit.
Assuming he needed treatment for 2-3 years he could have just sold his Pontiac Aztec and not had a single drop of debt. He'd still be receiving his salary anyway since the teachers union would protect him so he would've been fine. That's also assuming he had no savings or inheritance money.

As someone who fricked up due to pride I could relate tbh
    >get laid off
    >couldn't get a new job
    >months pass
    >guy I worked with asked if I was available as they had a spot at the new company he was at
    >didn't want to admit I'd been unable to find work and lied saying I was working elsewhere
    >ended up a NEET for 4 years
