Because he's single-minded in his mission. Instead of bothering to get a proper meal, he just shoves canned food down his throat. Instead of bothering to maintain his appearance, his clothes are ratty and he smells since he doesn't bathe. Anything that isn't a part of his mission doesn't matter, and he does the bare minimum needed to keep himself alive and functional. He means exactly what he says, there is no need to heat the beans up, he's fine with them as they are since it's just required eating to him. Hot, cold, it does not matter to him.
Yet another way Alan Moore attempted his hardest to paint Rorshach as a psycho because of his black-and-white morality.

He explicitly states it wasn't. Moore took qualities he liked about Ditko and put them into Rorschach.

Where? The only thing I'm aware of is him implicitly saying he wanted Rorschach to have an odd admirable quality that he felt for Ditko despite disgreeing with him so much. The closest thing to saying "you should hate Rorscach" is his annoyance at being accosted by smelly NEETs who are nothing like Rorschach.

Rorschach is essentially QBlack person trash when compared to IRL. It's not black and white to recognize that he's a subhuman fricking freak that can't even realize that he's not following his own sense of moral puritanism. He deserves the axe to the head just as much as the child rapist.

        Anonymous

The issue is he believes the compass is order. The whole point of Rorscach is he's a hypocrite full of contradictions because the irony of his worldview is that he cares deeply but it's caused him nothing but suffering. He wishes to both be able to create a just and good world but also wishes to feel no more pain from his failure to have that. So his solution is to adopt a belief system that says there's right and wrong no matter how anyone feels about it, and a face that feels nothing. He just uses it to blind him to his biases and emotions though. When ever he's confronted by something that breaks through his protective persona he recedes deeper until in the end he can no longer keep up the act and pretend he doesn't care about people and that he doesn't have any emotions., his greatest hypocrisy.

                >the moral lapses of men who died in their country's service
That's another one of the clues that Rorschach still had a biased and twisted worldview of things and was most definitely not objective or principled like some nutters still believe on this board. Rorschach was saying in the beginning that he'd basically sit aside while degenerates, murderers, and rapists clamored for help, yet Comedian was all three and Rorschach showed a weird kind of reverence for the man when everybody else had some level of indifference or disdain because they knew he was a giant piece of shit.

Also, what the frick was up with Laurie's design? Am I looking at it wrong? She always had her mouth partially open and baring her teeth even when she wasn't talking, it's bugged me ever since I read it years ago.

              Anonymous

Manhattan says nothing when ANYONE'S character is brought up. One of the first things he dismissively says in reaction to Blake's death is "a live body and a dead body have the same number of particles," which makes Laurie cringe and the next panel implies even a creep like Rorsharch is a little put off by him. Manhattan isn't a character we can look to for any insight about the others. He watched Blake shoot a woman and didn't really react

You're moronic. Moore doesn't write parodies, that's what you'd do. He tries to empathize with the characters he might disagree with politically because he understands that he could share those views if he had been in the same circumstance as those characters.

I like it more kept the comic bookiness and didn't remove it and make it more dark and serious looking like that's the point of Watchmen it's like standard comic book stuff visually just grounded and realistic storywise but with normal looking people it's why the characters look like kinda goofy and not like badass in the comic compared to the movie, it should look like Raimi's Spidey or Donner's Superman not grim dark even if the story is.
