At first he’s grateful for the community but after Maine and Doris die he keeps everyone at arm’s length (much to Rebecca’s disappointment).
Acceptance: David accepts the reality of death, both that of his mother and his own impending death when he gets the antipsychotics from Doc and subsequently puts on the cyber skeleton. He sacrifices himself so that Lucy may achieve her dream, thereby giving meaning to his death.
