warren beatty
wikipedia has a lot of info on him securing the rights and then suing the pants off people who tried to touch it for decades while promising to make another movie
Beatty literally had like 4 box office hits in his whole career, Bonnie and Clyde, Shampoo, Heaven can Wait, and Dick Tracy. It's crazy how much he was able to make and have control .
He's a weird actor in that he really perfected the image of being a movie star without actually having a strong catalogue of hit movies. His best role was McCabe and Mrs Miller and of course he hates it for various reasons
It didn’t know who their audience was. 1930 prohibition detective not exactly gong to get kids. Boomer adults didn’t watch comic movies in 1990. I saw it in theaters and was bored to death. Musical numbers, long gaps between shit happening. Celebrity cameos where I was too young to give a frick. This movie came out a year after Summer of the Bat so it was a massive letdown
It did work. Audiences and critics just didn't appreciate the pure kino that it was.
It was boring as hell
it did work it made money and it's awesome
It did work and was a really good adaptation from the comic material. That soundtrack was also baller.
So why no sequels?
Didn't seem like it needed it. They wrapped the story and arc pretty well.
Oh that's prostitute shit! This was Disney for god's sake. Yeah, like they totally would take integrity over money.
Old Disney. They weren't as money hungry or greedy then.
Practical effects were boss

He's a really petty guy
>the looks on their faces when Beatty and Tracy started arguing with each other
Perhaps the best movie of the decade.
>just having them sit and watch 90 year old Beatty cosplaying
i'll tell you something that worked
Flat Top's actor did the best job, looks like a dork but he's the most menacing psychopath just with those eyes.
Madonna was terrible in the film

reds was four hours of how obsessed beatty is with beatty; it was terrible

i always thought he was a lot of fun in the underrated bugsy!
Bugsy was a bunch of great scenes but it was weird as a movie, idk how to explain it.
Everything i know about this film is from the AVGN review of the game
it worked though
WHY ARE THERE NO FRICKING CONTINUES
I made a couple DT webms.
because warren beatty sucks and dick tracy had been irrelevant for almost 40 years
It did work. Every boomer I know who saw it loved it.
