It did. Did you even watch the movie?
i literally *just* finished it, why are you lying? it burns the armor on the grunts, nothing else. they even shoot the facehuggers point blank so they splatter everywhere in medical but nothing happens
It eventually stops. They go into this in great detail in the first Alien movie.
it doesn't happen when they actually hurt the aliens. it's established as the perfect defense system in the first movie and a small cut burns through several floors and is extremely dangerous, but nothing happens when they're ripped to pieces by bullets. they even have scenes where the aliens are right above them and they still shoot
shooting a bullet at acid neutralizes it?
Different compound bruh
does shooting a bullet into a vat of acid neutralize all the acid? i don't think you're nearly as smart as you like to think you are
>drops of acid
>a barrel of acid
False equivalency
>drops
the aliens only have a few drops of blood in them? its you who is making the false equivalency
they only show a few holes before the action actually starts, the station isn't altered during or after the combat. i especially found it weird when they shot the facehuggers point blank and everyone was just chilling out in the room after they pretty much exploded
in alien they panic because a few drops were strong enough to go through several floors
Watch the clip again
Good point about the infirmary but it was a really traumatic situation and then they actually had to immediately arrest Burke. So I don't really remember anyone just chilling.
The emergency showers were also active in the infirmary. Water was everywhere.
Oh interesting I wonder if they did that for this reason. It didn't really otherwise have the slightest thing to do with the plot. She otherwise could've very easily just pulled a fire alarm etc.
>in alien they panic because a few drops were strong enough to go through several floors
They were panicking because they were on a SPACESHIP and if it melted through the hull they'd all be dead. Meanwhile if you're in a building then you're not going to be afraid of some blood drops melting down into the ground so as long as you didn't get it on you nobody cares.
Thank you
But it did burn though the station. They show massive holes from "bagging the bads guys." They just don't show it happening and instead focus on many multiple characters getting horrifically injured by the acid.
>shooting a bullet at acid neutralizes it?
If the acid eats up the bullet then yes, the acid that ate the bullet is neutralized. Like how ice melts as it cools your drink, acid becomes not-acid when it eats through stuff.
>Scanners.gif
Drake gets splattered by blood and his face melts off after one of the xenos gets shot in close proximity. But nice try.
>reading comprehension
homie there's literally a scene where before they even meet a Xenomorph they find evidence of the acid blood and IIRC Burke even comments on it to Ripley surprised
Why couldn't the xenomorphs kill Ripley?
Why didn't James Cameron make a third movie?
To be fair you have to have a very high IQ to understand Alien 3.
The film is only horror on the surface, and without a solid grasp of existentialist philosophy as well as a more than cursory understanding of the symbolism of the world's great religions, most of the scenes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Ripley's quasi-innocent outlook, which is deftly expounded into her characterization giving birth to the very essence of the Film itself--the absurdity of Sartre and Camus is ingeniously woven together with the anti-idealism of one Soren Aabye Kierkegaard, to over simply things a bit.
The real Cinemaphile patricians understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity and lived experience to truly appreciate the real depths to which the "movie" plunges. They realize it isn't just horror but rather a comment on what it means to exist.
Consequently, people who dislike Alien 3 truly ARE plebian - of course they can't appreciate the heavy symbolism of Ripley's death, which is in at least one instance used in reference to the Gnostic/Hermetic ouroboros - an alchemical symbol that references both the cycle of life and the transmigration of the soul. I came a little just now thinking of those myopic troglodytes unable to grasp the deftly layered meaning of what David Giler, Walter Hill, Larry Ferguson and David Fincher have projected from themselves onto countless screens.
It's painfully erotic, knowing I and few others are capable of the intellectual intercourse those creators have put forth. And yes, by the way, I do have a Xenomorph tattoo and no, you cannot see it. It's for the initiated only - you have to have read and understood Carl Gustav Jung's Red Book and demonstrate an understanding of Alien 3 as it relates to the archetypal alchemy that is the collective unconscious.
tl; dr
also Alien 3 isn't canon and 4 is better regardless.
based picrel
They ALL made it
I can't say I hate Alien 3, but frick them killing off Hicks and Newt was stupid
Why would you want him to remake Alien a second time?
Why didn't they just nuke from orbit?
When acid reacts with another substance, the acid is neutralized.
lol what
homie have you ever taken a chemistry class? Acid works by emitting protons, (ionized hydrogen), so when it reacts with something by virtue of the mechanism of the reaction it loses potency by reacting.
In the first Alien movie they show that it eventually stops even just going through the same substance.
they nerfed the blood a little to up the action, putting a double barrel in a xenomorph mouth would have basically killed everyone in the apc if the blood was as strong as it was. they make a point to say it oxidizes quickly when not in a xeno/facehugger so its still dangerous just not quite as obtusely destructive.
>they make a point to say it oxidizes quickly when not in a xeno/facehugger
Do they? When? In Aliens they show that killing a xenomorph burned through basically an entire building.
Bishop says it at 1:34:40 its a bit of a handwave, but Aliens is an action movie, Alien is a horror movie the stronger acid makes for a better monster, but worse fodder.
Oh ok interesting thanks. Do you know if that's the theatrical cut or directors?
Aliens 1986 Special Edition BluRay, I'm guessing that's director's but I'm not sure. its at the beginning of the scene where they are in the lab and come up with the theory there is a queen.
Oh absolutely then but again thanks. I despise the directors cut so I'm not especially familiar with it.
i think this thread made me lose an iq point
how so?
Cameron spread his budget too thin.
no it was a great movie, i liked it a lot. i just noticed this detail was mostly missing
a few drops of acid melted through several feet of steel, but their entire body getting torn up didn't affect anything
what "clip"? we're talking about an entire movie lol
i mean nobody reacted to the threat of acid (because it wasn't there)
The APC clip we were speaking about
yeah it sprays one of the grunts, i'm aware that they acknowledge the acid i was just expecting it to behave like it did in alien
yeah it's a good movie, i just thought that would be the point of the flamethrowers before watching it. i thought the bullets were gonna cause trouble and that's why she had a flamethrower on the cover
Well especially in light of your digits good observation and maybe it was a nod to this but Cameron wanted to make it as different as reasonably possible. Like for example have that same exact issue but for a different more important reason like adios muchacho.
Fair enough
>nobody reacted
That was shown. I don't remember anything not having damage that very explicitly should have but either way that's a good point and might be an interesting specific catch depending on what it is.
>but their entire body getting torn up didn't affect anything
Oh yeah that's totally just movie hand-waving to not over-complicate the plot.
>Ripley! This was a really, REALLY bad call.
>gets out lipstick and writes "c**t" on his head
do you prefer the eggmorphing2 or queen hive?
Eggmorphing actually makes me a lot more uncomfortable, I wish they'd kept that direction
the former, I don't like the queen
It did. It just wasn't dangerous because they weren't on a fricking spaceship like in the first movie.
