Why didn't The Office produce massive stars?
It was one of the most popular shows ever but you never see anyone other than Jim in anything else.

I feel like Jim is a forced meme and nobody takes him seriously as like a Tom Clancy action hero or whatever the frick he's supposed to be now
The problem with being in comedy in general is that you get typecast as your most successful comic character and can't get any roles that aren't just repeating the exact same sketches
Cedar Rapids was funny.
>The problem with being in comedy in general is that you get typecast as your most successful comic character
>Who is Robin Williams?
>Who is Bryan Cranston?
>Who is Olivia Coleman?
>Who is Jim Carrey?
>Who is Tom Hanks?
>Who is Jamie Foxx?
>Who is Hugh Laurie?
>Who is Donald Glover?
>Who is Bob Odenkirk?
>Who is Matthew McConaughey?
>Who is Peter Sellers?
>Who is Gene Wilder?
Jim Carey is not a good example. He was rubber faced fart man for many many of his movies.
Is this a copypasta? it's an excellent list
She was only 31 when it started but god damn, she looks so old in the mean girls remake
The exceptions that prove the rule. All great actors that had decades of experience before finally being able to break the mold. John Krasinski? Not so much.
>win an action packed trip to Detroit
>i enjoy
>now melts
>Davis
and Jim only got those big roles because he married emily blunt.
It's a good thing none of them got big, they're all garbage.
Dwight in NuTrek was particularly terrible
>HEY DWIGHT IS A NERD CHARACTER, RIGHT?
>LETS PUT HIM IN STAR TREK!!!!!
a lot of popular sitcoms don't produce big stars. See: HIMYM, F.R.I.E.N.D.S., Seinfeld.
This. Big time sitcom stars always get typecast as their old characters basically.
Dwight has actually been in some really fun B-movies, like Super and Cooties.
Super is cuck porn
remember when they made a detective/cop show starring Dwight but it barely made it a season because everyone said his character was "too racist and misogynistic". That was wild
Did they ever cast Bazinga man in NuTrek? There were tons of Trek cameos in his show.
>PAM GOT GAPED
That girl? Jenna Fischer.
O hate when that happens to me
>projectionist is now filming us
Projectors don't work that way!
Steve Carrell was already pretty big before the office and still gets roles in big productions since.
>Steve Carrell was already pretty big before the office
That's not "big". It was his breakout role but Steve never had a role as big as Michael and is just known as the Minions guy. It's amazing how Ed Helms was a bigger star than Steve.
Idk man starring in a mainstream Hollywood comedy is pretty big.
The Hangover made double what the 40 year old virgin made. No one remembers that movie anymore.
And Despicable Me 3 made a billy. Steve wins.
Voice actors are the bottom of the barrel of acting. The Minions success wasn't because of Steve Carrel and no one watched that movie because of his character. He hasn't had any success since The Office while Ed Helms the minor Office character lead a billion dollar franchise.
Yeah and no one watched the Hangover because they cast Ed Heims.
Either the goalpost here is movie earnings or it isn't. Despicable Me 3 alone earned more than every Hangover movie combined.
If the goalpost is moving to being a known name, as unquantifiable as that is, it's an absurd contrarian take that Ed Heims is the biggest star to come out of the office because of the Hangover when a) the Office is probably bigger than anything else live action anyone in it starred in and b) Steve Carrell starred in a shitload of successful movies before, during and after the Office.
Not true at all, Carrell was also in the big short and dinner for schmucks
Jim has been in jack reacher and thats p much it
This was like the same year as the Office. Before that he was just the guy from the Daily Show and had a bit role in Bruce Almighty
Most sucessful tv shows don't produce massive stars.
what about Sherif Lobo
Pam was way too old to become a star. They tried to force that, though.
She was sexxoooo in blades of glory
A fricking waste of "talent"
How about now?
Honestly yeah
Do you guys think we'll ever get a cure to looking old?
inb4 makeup, surgury, etc. I dont mean pausing aging, I mean just do its so your face doesnt wrinkle as much, or is that just impossible
DNA gene editing?
idk, but thats the best bet. Or the whales from Avatar 2
Because The Office was always reddit-tier garbage for onions-enjoyers
tl;dr anyone with a Dunder Mifflin bumper sticker should be executed
Why didn't The Sopranos produce massive stars?
Why didn't Lost produce massive stars?
AHEM
Siggy is so hot as a blonde
Sarris has a fricking great design
What is so uniquely detestable about his face
I've heard that smiling with bugged out eyes is a sign of a psychopath.
My favorite part of the whole movie was over 20 lbs of pussy and ass
Cedar Rapids isn't a bad movie tbqh
Because it's a mediocre show and UK version is thousand times better.
The UK version is kinda forgettable tbqh
The UK version is worse.
Phyllis had Inside Out at least.
And cheerios commercials
Because it wasn't actually that great of a show. It went on far too long
Only supporting character in first and second season, but she became big star.
>When an attractive purse saleswoman named Katy (Amy Adams) comes to the office, Michael and Dwight openly vie for her attention. >Meanwhile, the corporate office allocates $1,000 as a prize for the top office salesman, but Michael spends the money on an espresso machine, trying to impress Katy. However, in the end she leaves with Jim, devastating both Michael and Dwight.
>Amy Adams
Isn't that the Lois Lane that looks like Pam?
Sometimes I think a show gets so big, you cant be bigger. Steve Carell is the only one I can remember by name at all, the rest are "Jim, Pam, Dwight" But Carell was a star before hand.
I always thought its because, most of the cast is older, so they have no desire to do anything besides for fun, or theyve been in the project so long theyre burned out of acting. Jim might be the only one who wants to even pursue anything.
She was opening here, ready for it.
Is this real? His finger is pressing against the anus
Steve carrel was in
>bruce almighty
>little miss sunshine
>40 year old virgin
Ed helms is in
>The Hangover
>The Hangover 2
>The Hangover 3
And no one fricking knows his name.
People know the name Ed Helms i think
You forgot Cedar Rapids
>reddit: the show
That's Parks and Rec. The Office was based for the first few seasons because the jokes are all purposefully offensive but filtered through Michael and Dwight for plausible deniability
When does park and recs get good anyway?
I tried and watching it once and didn't care much
I know people that swear by it
First season is trash. Seasons 2-7 are very comfy though. It’s rarely knee slapping laugh out loud funny though.
Parks and Rec is saccharine trash. The Office was actually occasionally funny because the humor was mean spirited insults
The only good parts are Ron and April/Andy. The rest is awful start to finish.
the only reason the office was good in the first few seasons was because it tried to stick to the source material
The Office was lowkey redpilled
>You were at your most attractive when you were 24 with a slight, gradual decline and a steep drop-off when you got pregnant for the first time. Gradual recovery and, uh, well now, obviously, you're at an all-time low.
Pam was in at least one other movie as the love interest
Darryl has been in a lot of movies. Hot tub time machine, knocked up
Ed Helms has been in a frick ton of movies, The Hangover 1-3, were the millers, e.t.c
Steve Carell is an obvious bigger star than Jim
Dwight has had a few shows but i think they all got cancelled.
A successful series' run IS stardom for most of its cast. Afterwards they adjust their careers according to several factors.
Carell and Krasinski are doing ok, the others got themselves bit roles and other gigs.
What world do you live in? Compared to most sitcoms that were as big or bigger the cast got a lot of work. Frasier for example was the end of the road for everyone.
>Dear John, I wrote you but you still ain't calling
>I left my cell, my pager, and my home phone at the bottom
>I sent two letters back in autumn, you must not've got 'em
>There probably was a problem at the post office or something
>Sometimes I scribble addresses too sloppy when I jot 'em
>But anyways; frick it, what's been up? Man, how's your daughters?
>I'm pregnant, too, I'm bout to be a mother
>If I have a son, guess what I'mma call him?
>I'mma name him Jim
>I read about Reed Richards, too, I'm sorry
>I had a friend lose a role over some Hispanic who didn't want it
>I know you probably hear this every day, but I'm your biggest fan
>I even got the romcom shit that you did with Cam
>I got a room full of your posters and your pictures, man
>I like the shit you did with Emily, too, that shit was phat
>Anyways, I hope you get this, hit me back
>Just to chat, truly yours, your bestest friend
>This is Pam
I think they made so much money off the show they don't have to work again.
The actors were kind of shit outside Carrel.
