Ghostbusters as a concept works MUCH better as a series than film anyways. The setup is a perfect "Ghost of the Week" where they can explore different spirits, creatures, interpersonal drama etc.
Have to have a good writer to do it right. Hence the Season 1 batch of Real Ghostbusters having that awesome dark tone from JMS.

It's nonsense in the context of a movie title. It could work as a sequel title, where everyone has fricked off and they need to answer that call by reforming. But not here.

They tried to put them in the comics. Which is funny because at the time IDW was working on their own set of female ghost busters.
Imo is it the worst movie? No. It's just a bad snl group who don't bounce off of each other like they think they do. Overall the movie needed better editing of when they say a joke cut it, all that improv is shit. Also script wise could've been a better villain. It I had to be mad about anything it's the preproduction that this movie deserved all the shit it got.
