It pretends to be deep and different from "adult animation" but it immediately indulges in cheap nudity and sex jokes, it wants to portray Carol as particular in her manner but can only do so by making every other person on earth an insane freak, and it does absolutely fricking NOTHING with its animation that couldn't be done easier and better in live action.
I'm honestly kind of baffled at how many people in the industry are trying to pretend this show is new and different and deep and a herald of change for adult animation. I get the feeling most people praising this are the exact same flavor of boring narcissist as the author thinking they're Carol and the depiction of other people is accurate.

I think the main thing setting it apart from most mainstream adult cartoons is that scenes are given the time to breathe. The episodes aren't 20 jokes a minute. Outside of that, sure, it's no different than the rest.

It's like this show didn't know if it wanted to focus on Carol and her pals or if it wanted to be an anthology. They should've stuck to one or the other, though I think the latter would've been more interesting.
