It has so far failed to make widely unpopular shows actually popular. No one watched Star Trek Discovery. No one is watching Doctor Who ever since Whitaker. No one watched The Marvels.
the doctor who viewers already dropped off before whitaker, they took a massive hit when capaldi was cast and lost the jerking off femcel audience, briefly jumped back up for whitakers debut and the novelty of a female doctor, then quickly dropped again.
Capaldi at least had a solid in-built audience of actual Doctor Who fans (you know. British male nerds, who grew up with the older iteration of the show), which it only really started to lose with The Thin Ice.
They have completely lost that audience now, and have to rely on temporarily reining a general audience in with stunts like casting a woman, or bringing back David Tennant.
Those people are never going to stick around for any serious amount of time though, because they aren't serious about liking Doctor Who, since it never meant anything to them. It's just consumer junk as far as they're concerned.
This is really it. I like Dr Who, grew up on the old stuff, watched up until Capaldi, struggled through it for his good moments.
Whittaker I bailed on, writing was terrible, performances bad apart from Graham.
I had positive thoughts about Ncuit, as RTD was the guy who brought the show back after all.
But, the two episodes out are awful. Really, really, really bad.
Space Babies is an embarrassing story with horrible CGI lipped kids. The two leads run around screaming and shouting and the Doctor is all over the place.
