They live in a world where their looks are everything, cameras are always on them. Their perspective becomes so distorted and vapid that they base all their worth on their looks and think if they just fix this one part, theyll be worth it
This. The distortion of their perception. You can notice it yourself, say you're having an off day, maybe pissed or depressed and take a good look at yourself in the mirror. Do the same when having a great day. Chances are you dress and look about the same kn any given day but you'll notice how own impression of self can be distorted so wildly. People really don't give much thought to how what we see is a creation of the mind. Mental processing or visual information begins in the retina and continues on, it's never a 1:1 recording of reality it is always shaped by the mind. We simply don't, and physically can't, see the visual information like a camera.
It's really interesting stuff there has been some research recently on the retina pre processing that is utterly fascinating. But once you can see how impacted your perception is by your own emotion it becomes much easier to understand how others can really go off the deep end.

It is entirely possible to exist and to be in a state where one does not identify with their thoughts or their body, which allows you to be totally objective. If you choose to sit quietly and reflect on yourself, you can be objective about yourself in such a state.

This is incorrect, the best you can do is reach a state where you think that you don't identify with thought or body (but where you are wrong about that). Your thoughts, feelings, opinions, mind states etc. are entirely 100% biological processes. You can never escape the body. You will never be anything but subjective. That doesn't mean always wrong or having a different opinion than the objective truth.
