It's not ironic. White people's films made for themselves are for White people.

By the same token, you probably have some beaners in this thread who live in an apartment in Tijuana thinking that cowboy culture is theirs while there are white boys out in Idaho who actually work on a ranch, go to rodeos, etc.

It is relevant more than ever to have accurate representation you dumb gringo homosexual. They weren't "born and raised" in that lifestyle they aren't forced into that lifestyle ffs they don't live the same as the true cowboys from that past that gets portrayal as a the American Hero in American Media from the past.
Fricking Black folk that immigrate to Egypt get to LARP as ancient Egyptians now because they now live there? Get the frick outta here

The mythical image of the cowboy was created by Hollywood and American pop culture. If the lack of beaner representation in that genre upsets said beaners, you've only yourselves to blame. Western movies were cheap and shit to make and Mexico has the locations all right there? So why was fricking Italy making great Western movies while you guys weren't?

As for whoever is the rightful inheritor of the actual irl cowboy tradition, its anyone who lives that fricking lifestyle, or the closest modern thing to it, wherever that may be. If you don't then you're in no position to call anyone who does a "larper". You're just a pathetic homosexual clinging onto "muh ancestors" bullshit. Nobody cares if your great great grandfather lived that life and theirs didn't, because they're out doing now what your so fricking precious about muh ancetors for. So if it means so much to you, go off and get a job on a fricking cattle ranch somewhere. Otherwise stfu. If your ancestors are defined by what they did, you're defined by what you do. You can only cling onto their legacy for so long if you're not meaningfully a part of it in any way besides existing to begin with.

Cinemaphile will seethe but there were actually a relatively high percentage of black 'cowboys' in the wild west, as well as Hispanics and such, depending on the period you're looking at.

The reason people don't get this is because today the role is so romanticized. During the actual time period it was a low status job.

Spanish and Mexican claim to Texas and the SW territory ended in 1836 even before the gold rush. Very few Mexicans could read or write back then. There was very few stories to include them in after everything became cowboys vs injuns, calvary vs injuns, injun war party vs 49ers.
