It's literally about them and their awkward adolescence and troubled relationship with their mothers. Getting one of the most painful foundational experiences of their life validated makes something that's otherwise average seem really deep. Its the same reason a lot of movies about marginalized groups get over praised. Black Panther was a solid comic hero story with some interesting aspects, but it was far from the first MCU movie to deal with a heavy political topic or have Shakespearean family drama, yet people talked about it like it was this incredible transcendental thing.
