Yeah, you're stronger, faster, bigger, don't get periods, but it's women who live in easy mode. Imagine being such a fricking failure as a man that you think this. How pathetic you have to be to blame women for your frick ups. Just have a nice day.
Literal fricking moron. They do live one easy mode cause by their reproductive and intercourse capabilities, they are inherently the most valuable people in society bar none. An ugly woman can snatch a decent looking chap and form a good life for herself. An ugly man's life is a complete hell on earth. You've clearly drank the cool aid or just are far gone.

What should a man do? Does the hero of the film need to go and impale himself on the cleaver of a murderous maniac in order to meet the wishes of the viewer?
If the guys runs away screaming like a woman, he's an annoying homosexual. Simple as. Audiences subconsciously know that a real man would protect his close ones. That's why nearly all slashers feature a "final girl" instead.
A horror film starring a man needs a villain that can't be easily beat up physically. The Thing does it right.
>Could something like Halloween or The Exorcist work with a male protagonist?
The Exorcist definitely.
Halloween maybe. I think Laurie being so innocent and vulnerable is part of what makes it so effective. As others have said if it was a dude and he was constantly screaming or running away from Michael Myers the audience would probably hate him because they'd subconsciously see him as a weak coward.
Ultimately im worried if you make it a guy, writers will make them meek like a child, or feminine like a woman, essentially writing the male as a female anyway.
I think if make horror is gonna work, especially for something like Halloween, it needs to tap into male ideals. Instead of running away from Micheal like a scared b***h, our male protagonist is attempting to maintain Micheal, maybe Micheal is an older brother he's been protective of. It just needs to tap into masculine means of fear, what does a man fear, not being able to provide or protect, is something that comes to mind.
They're easier to stalk, victimize etc as the weaker sex. Also their nude scenes have much more commercial appeal than showing some random dude showering or something
The writers have to be more clever in constructing the story when using a male protagonist because people have an expectation that men must be more capable, resourceful and they aren't allowed to be cowards.
This, males are always somewhat expendable by default. Why they have to do things to be regarded while a female just has to not be a completely horrible person (and could be that if they are physically attractive).

coz chicks have to bleed out their cooch, so picture this some ho is runnin away from the evil monster and bam her pussy is leaking red, uh oh she has to stop to let the Scarlett tide out an the monster may catch her
you're constantly on edge
Not even close, watch more slashers. It's only true for the first few movies that kicked off the genre. Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Black Christmas, Halloween, Friday 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street. People only remember those and think all the future slasher films played out the exact same way (they didn't, not even within those franchises).
I think it's because horror movies only work against female characters or men of certain dispositions.
If you tried to make a horror movie with a regular man who wasn't afraid of anything it'd quickly become either an action movie or a comedy.
Like the monster appears at the end of a corridor and the man instead of posturing himself for defense just charges it instead (I reckon about 30-odd% of men are stalwart/reckless like this), and either immediately gets chomped or starts beating the monster up which turns it into a comedy.
Movies can never really represent reality for reasons like this.
Because nobody gives a shit about men but will get scared if a woman is in danger
because women are weaker than men and make the threats seem more menacing in comparison
Bingo.
/thread.

would you want to watch a man run around screaming
If he's a twink, yes
Men face danger every fricking day. Women are coddled, ergo, it's more tense seeing someone on easy mode get their shit pushed in.
Cuz I wanna frick them

Women live in easy mode because men make it easy for them.
Imagine being able to just flip your hair and moan a little to gain complete control of one or all of those things O WAIT
breasts or gtfo
Thinking women have it better is the first sign of latent troonyism.
They don’t have it better per se but definitely have it easier.
being a woman is horror
yeah I liked silent hill 3 too
>silent hill 3 is about... LE WOMANHOOD
I mean it is but go off sis
Seeing cute women in fear was the fetish of many creatives.
If a man is constantly running from the scary killer, the audience will turn on him and think he's a pussy.
What about collateral?

Are there even any good horror movies with male protagonists?
Wicker Man, Evil Dead 2, The Thing, An American Werewolf in Londn, The Shining; although he's also the antagonist
Hmm okay these are good. So what makes these work? Could something like Halloween or The Exorcist work with a male protagonist?

Isn't Karras kinda the protagonist of Exorcist?
Kinda though I think Chris is the protagonist personally.
Also Inferno, Prince of Darkness, The Woman in Black, In The Mouth of Madness, Shutter etc.
Dog Soldiers my man
Halloween 3
Invasion of the body snatchers
They're easier to stalk, victimize etc as the weaker sex. Also their nude scenes have much more commercial appeal than showing some random dude showering or something
because it's sexy seeing women be scared and in pain, especially if they're crying too
you need to be locked up
women are weaker and more incompetent so seeing them in danger makes you more scared/worried for them
The writers have to be more clever in constructing the story when using a male protagonist because people have an expectation that men must be more capable, resourceful and they aren't allowed to be cowards.
It’s cathartic to watch stupid b***hes get torn to shreds
Nobody cares about men
Your average loser getting assfricked by a monster or buzzsaw-wielding maniac is gonna get laughed at
A woman running and begging for her life is exciting because her death is a waste of womb and eggs
This, males are always somewhat expendable by default. Why they have to do things to be regarded while a female just has to not be a completely horrible person (and could be that if they are physically attractive).
You're projecting.
I think it’s just male horror movies get branded a different genre
A woman lost in the woods hunted by a bear is horror
The same script with a few gendered beats is an survival story
coz chicks have to bleed out their cooch, so picture this some ho is runnin away from the evil monster and bam her pussy is leaking red, uh oh she has to stop to let the Scarlett tide out an the monster may catch her
you're constantly on edge
they even made a term for it
"Final girl" is bullshit, most of the time even the slashers with a female protagonist end with one of the male characters surviving as well.
yea but the male character usually dies trying to save her or turns out to be the killer as well

Because having close ups of women is aesthetically pleasing in any movie especially thrillers or horror. Also they unironically emote better than men.
Women are just more emotionally engaging to watch
Yeah, if you're horny.

Works better aesthetically.
Horror is inherently misogynistic.
What horror movie is that?
