This. It's like when musicians and actors go insane because their meme shitpost role or song reaches critical acclaim, and everything they ever put real effort into after that thing is considered garbage.
I mean if you spent months on something for it to do okay while something you put barely any effort into and made in like a day blew up and became your legacy you'd probably be pretty pissy about it too
i hate e-celeb shit so much cause idk who the frick this rando is and i come into the thread expecting people to actually answer and discuss the question presented in the thread topic, but instead it's just vagueposting about some frickin guy
I know, I hate when these idiots don’t explain shit. OP is from psychicpebbles’ “kony 2012” and he has since deleted this and others like the duck song parody for containing racist caricatures of black people.

Ok? So OP already has his answer and doesn't actually wanna discuss his bullshit lie of a question he's just looking for an excuse to dramashit? Great
Why does it matter? Why so triggered?
If you don't know, just ask. I didn't know what the OP image was, & I didn't care.
>Fans love only the older/best/popular stuff but dont buy/like his new stuff >older/best/popular stuff was made with corporate characters so they make no money from it >animators got squeezed in crunchtime for this >animators moved on but fans only talk about the old stuff
This is a normal thing for many artists. An artist is their own worst critic, and your old art will always age poorest for yourself. And of course, just because an artist criticises their old work this way doesn't mean you have to stop enjoying it, you're an adult after all (well ideally you should be).
Would you say all popular things are good?
There is a pattern on what things gains popularity and as a creative you might not like it as it doesn't reflect what you want
Most creatives will look back at anything they made a couple years ago and think it fricking sucks. Something from 5 to 10 years ago is painful to look at to them and the idea that people might still be seeing it and associating it with them makes them hurt even more.
Being an artist means being a neurotic idiot. >t. artist
most creators of any kind- musicians, animators, artists, authors, film directors, et cetera- hate their older works because they feel their newer stuff is an improvement. simple as that
Some fall in the category of making a work they didn't like for money that hits it big. Meanwhile they wanted to do a whole different thing, now their whole identity as an artist is tied to a work they don't care for. Others, I think, just get tired of the work. It was a fun thing they did once but people are obsessed with it, asking ridiculous questions forever. Some had to compromise their ideas while making the work and they see this new work as a bastardized version of their original idea.
Does this really apply to psychicpebbles though? Sure, he dislikes a lot of his older stuff because he made them when he was an edgy teenager and it shows but if anything Smiling Friends has surpassed any of his older stuff in terms of sheer popularity.
Malding that people like their effortless shitposts more than their "serious" works

like filthy frank
Because they literally live in their head rent free 24/7
Is that the bad guy from the star wars?
GodDAMMIT
Explain

Maybe you should just be grateful that you had any success at all.

Different anon but I think the question in the op is still valid.
nobody mentioned a specific artist or the smiling friends bullshit here
Wait hold on. You said psychicpebbles deleted the kony 2012 video...?

Do you mean this one?
Delete your post. You're ruining my thread.

Because it's probably not the thing they want to be their best or most popular

People grow up and grow out of things.

I remember Zach said his Tupac video was too tryhard edgy and that he wish he strangled his past self for making it.
