Even Robingays and Batgirlgays for the most part have settled their grievances with each other. However Halgays, Kylegays, and Johngays are still constantly at each others' throats and cry when their character isn't taking up 90% of the panel time or the bestest GL to ever live.

Im fairly certain Kyle and Hal gays have for the most made peace with each other. As for Johngays they are more less just fans of the idea of him thanks to JLU but thanks to memorygoggles don’t realize that version was incredibly boring

Bat threads and Spidey threads have made trying to discuss two characters that I like utter shit on this website. I'll take GL-gayging over Batgirl/Robin-gayging autism or Spiderwaifu-gayging autism. At least GL threads actually talk about the world and characters, rather than having endless shit-flinging autism about which Batman or Spiderman side character they want to frick.

          >Batgirl/Robin-gayging autism or Spiderwaifu-gayging autism
Maybe they are like this because there's actually nothing to talk about with these characters, so all they can do is just cope and just spam their fetishes.

            Anonymous

There's plenty to talk about with Batman's mythos and world that doesn't involve constant wars about his sidekicks. There are also plenty of Spidey threads that talk about his rogue's gallery and media adaptions such as Spectacular, which I like until some waifu-gay inevitably shits up the discussion. Enough about those two though, this is a GL thread, What would you like to see more of in the GL mythos? I would like to see more alien empires and factions for the GLs, as I feel Marvel cosmic is good about fleshing out its cosmic side. What made Annhiliation so memorable was the vast amount of set pieces Marvel had to play around with. The GLs have great events to, but too much of it revolves around wars between the Lantern Corps or something related to the Emotional Spectrum

This. There is so much to talk about but it’s just waifugays. What’s even worse is that the drawgays in the batgirl threads ensures they’re not leaving anytime soon.

I'll never understand that sentiment. Sinestro became a compelling, fleshed-out character, Black Hand also got fleshed out and became more compelling, we got cool concepts like the Red Lanterns and the Indigo tribe, the Lantern team beyond the human Lanterns all became more interesting when their backgrounds got expanded upon, and the entire run felt like an epic space saga that was building towards something monumental. My only issue was that everything centered around the Emotional Spectrum, which made the Lantern mythos (and DC's cosmic side) much smaller than it should be.

In Green Lantern issue forty in Krona's first appearance his act of seeing the creation of the universe causes the introduction of evil into the universe. The recon Wolfman did in Crisis explains that Krona's experiment caused the creation of the Multiverse so I get this could have been how Qward and the Antimatter Universe came into being but how was the Antimatter Universe created during the Silver Age by Broome?

Okay. Because I remember the Hal is israeli thing on this board pre New-52. And it being somewhat flimsy at best even then. I feel like Barry would be a better israelite.

The doubling down on Hal’s israeliness through his mother is only very recent. Next thing you know we’ll get a mini on how Hal’s great grandparents got sent to Treblinka.

i would argue GL has the most recent 'legendary' run. everyone raves about geoff johns' run and it ended around 2010 or 2011 before the new 52 reboot.

don't think there have been many 'absolutely essential 10/10 quality' runs since then.

      Anonymous

I'd argue that what Johns did the GL franchise is equivalent to what Claremont did to the X-Men or Miller did to Daredevil. It's amazing how the GLs went from being arguably the second-most popular DC franchise in the mid-2000s to being a background IP in limbo. It's nice that at least we have a GL ongoing now after years of hiatus, but it's just a bizarre whiplash to see how far the IP fell. Was it because of the 2011 movie?

        Anonymous

        >Was it because of the 2011 movie?
I’d say it was that plus the fact that they could never sustain what Geoff and pals did. That run was the perfect storm of the right people meeting at the right time. After he left it was never the same because the scope got smaller and smaller.

Say what you will about Johns, but he did so much good work to revitalize the GL and Aquaman franchise while also making a solid JSA and Teen Titans run.

one of the best, certainly. although i feel like in terms of GL history, emerald twilight is the most important, but the Johns run is the best to read.

shame it kind of petered out with brightest day at the end. i like blackest night, brightest day was really messy and disjointed, although I guess it was supposed to feel that way because the heroes could never figure out what the white light was doing.

    Haltards are cancer.
Didiots who dragged the DCU kicking and screaming backwards from progress, with stupid and awful character assassination in order to try to turn fans against the way things were so they can have their pwecious silver age back.

Plus, have you seen how they gloat over the Ben 10 thing? Over a show for literal preteens? I've never watched a single episode of Ben 10, but holy shit the haltards making a gloating thread every day for a year, and brigading Ben 10 threads when they appeared, was watching cancer in action.

To put it simply, Ron Marz wanted Kyle Rayner into the Spider-Man of DC by having Kyle balance his life between superheroing and a civilian one. And it was good for the most part, but Marz had a bad habit of writing Kyle as an amateur who jobbed constantly and nobody took seriously, and there was always hype about the GLC reforming to get people hooked on staying around for the next issue. It was a godsend for Kyle that Geoff picked him up instead of sending him to the shadow realm.
