Why do people love this movie so much?

Just finished it about 20 minutes ago and honestly, what a stinking pile of shit. Complete style over substance, the soundtrack and atmosphere are the only things worth mentioning in this mess. Classic my big fat ass.

But yeah unless there is some hidden Warrior-verse I don't know about the gimmick gangs thing was gay.

Midwits are the ones coming to a Hollywood movie and expecting substance

Pic related is another 70s movie I've watched recently, and like you described, they just have completely random scenes that add absolutely nothing to the movie and are never referenced again.

jewfro pissed off the director by being a pain in the ass so the director killed him off and even refused to list him in the credits.

Because it reinforces the American ideal that if a societal breakdown and open gang warfare were to become commonplace in United states, the gangs would NOT be drawn upon racial lines.

According to American sensibilities its okay to have gang wars, they can be quite wholesome, but only if the gangs are exhibit anti-racist organizational tendencies.

There's a cut plotline where a group of homosexuals kidnapped Swan and took him as their prisoner. Actual thing.

does it actually adapt it or does it just take the premise of a small force having to escape an impossibly hostile situation?

its a very very lose adaptation of Xenophon's Anabasis the only direct similarities beside the premise that pop into my mind is that Cyrus is a named after Cyrus the younger

In retrospect this movie was the turning point where 70s pop culture ended and 80s pop culture began. Along with Halloween and maybe Dawn of the Dead

This movie. Like most 70s movies. Is unobjectionable trash but has an essence and an air of high art to it. Like that moment where they see the prom kids on the subway or Cyrus says he "likes doing things like that". Because even back then when a movie was shit they knew you still had to put profundity into it.

Why do the Warriors commit every crime in the universe outside of grand theft auto, a safe easy crime that would get them home?
