It did happen to me. In college, there was this hot guy friend of a friend who invited me to parties. I went to them hoping that he would notice me, until I caught him kissing another guy. I got mad and stopped going to the parties. Looking back I should've stayed and found some more friends who weren't just classmates looking for a studymate. I understand that it's easy to give up and retreat to what you know, but you don't grow like that.
Well yeah we've all 20/20 hindsight but it's a rare individual who can shrug off rejection and then act like nothing's happened.
