Why do so many young men (myself included) make this movie our personality

Is it because it's kino or are we just fricked in the head?

you and every other zoomer male are losers but want to seem cool so you obsess over a character that is cool but a loser, very simple

It’s because you’re a dim witted tiktok trend following homosexual whose brain has been destroyed from using the internet and social media since infancy.

Because you can't think for yourself

      damn

      pathetic

Somewhere along the way people forgot that everyone posted about Patrick Bateman and this film because it's a hilarious and unhinged performance, and newbies kept coming in only knowing about this supposedly being a definitive, essential film and viewing it through that lens, assuming they're in good company and that surely this character is "based" and not "cringe" and that makes it "kino" out of a desperate need to fit in

You don't have the "personality" of Bateman, zoomer
Or are you saying you're going around thinking about murdering people?

I sell large quantities of soap and cleaning chemicals. I often reference this film and Fight Club and occasionally Taxi Driver when introducing myself.
    >I'm a soap salesman, it's like Fight Club, but cooler.
    >Ever see American Psycho? That scene where they compare business cards? Check out mine.
    >One day a real degreaser will come and wash all the scum away
    It's fun.

Imagine being so much of an npc you base your personality on that of a fictional character.

OP is onto something. A decade ago, in college, I saw the movie and read the book and felt a connection to the material. Something about not fitting in despite being a power fantasy, and le edgy darkness simmering under the surface...it was kind of the natural continuation (final phase?) of young adult angst. Also it was helped by American Psycho being a high quality piece of media, so there was no embarassment in fanboying for it.
