Streaming services are worth way more than cinema

Because most streaming movies are shit in an unremarkable way. I remember Don't Look Up and Irishmen being really talked about, though.

Anyways, Jenna is so fricking hot, I hope the writers stop being pussies and make Wednesday and Enid be lesbians.

    >Why do streaming tv shows become the center of the zeitgeist but streaming movies are instantly forgotten?
There is simply more of a tv show to watch. Keeps the discussion going longer. Streaming shows/movies always have really short lifespan though. Nobody really talks about them past the markting push kek

This isn't true for all media but when a show is done right it will have more of an impact because it has effectively taken you through multiple situations and emotions. Whereas movies have a limited time frame to present you what it thinks are the most pertinent parts.

Thing is cinema as a medium is dying, we reaIIy are witnessing the end of an era
As for the reason? I don't know man, l suppose people nowadays just prefer to engage with Ionger stories??

that's actually a really good question that's going to go unanswered because you used coomerbait as your image
I think it's because once a production knows their movie is going direct to streaming they stop putting their A-game in
I tried watching both Red Notice and The Adam Project and I noticed the same thing with each, they both felt unfinished
like the effects and everything was done, but the editing was unfocused and weird on both, like it was a first draft edit that needed another couple of weeks to tighten things up
on both of those movies they knew during filming that what they were making was going to Netflix and not theaters, so they basically said
    >frick it this doesn't need to be perfect, people are only going to watch this on their phones

  15. 11 months ago
    Anonymous

They put the same production value into both, so their productions are a bit better than average television, but a bit worse than average films.

because there are people paid to make you talk about this shit.
Everything about a show and its info is calculated.
A new show can bring new subscriptions if everyone wants to be in on the new hotness
a new movie? ehh not so much. Especially if that show takes a few weeks months to release; that's a few months worth of subscriptions

      Anonymous

      >that's a few months worth of subscriptions
      This. It's about generating cashflow

Movies are 90-120 minutes and that's it, you might have sequel bait but they generally have a complete story arc.
TV shows are typically at least 5-10 hours per season and can string you along for years. There's a lot more time to become emotionally attached to the characters, story, etc. and a lot more to discuss with other people.

Because it takes days to watch a tv show (unless you're a no-life autist). It takes a few hours to watch a movie. With a TV show you have cliffhangers and plot twists and storylines to discuss, with a film your just listing off cool moments. If a film is shit, everyone realizes straight away and spreads the word. If a show is shit, it can take several episodes to notice.

      Anonymous

      >unless you're a no-life autist
Why do you have to have no-life to know about 2x?
Its actually the opposite, if you have enough time to watch every tv show at 1x, you have no life.

        Anonymous

2x is for podcasts and twitch streams. If you're using it to get through a TV show you should probably switch it off and do something else.

          Anonymous

How about I switch you off?
You might have a point, I just said 2x as a generalization, most tv shows are actually best in 1.3-1.6x range.

        Anonymous

why would watching something at x2 speed make you have more of a life? It's not like once you're done you have something meaningful to do, it just gives you more time to consoom more media faster and in the process you are permanently destroying your dopamine receptors and attention span.

          Anonymous

It gives you more stuff to talk about, speed watching doesn't kill the attention span, constantly multitasking does, and I do have meaningful things to do, that is why I don't have many 3-5 hour blocks where I can watch a full movies or season of tv in real time or try to watch things and do other things at the same time.

            Anonymous

At that point, you might as well just watch one of those youtube videos that recap a movie in 10 minutes.

              Anonymous

If I just wanted to watch a mere recap, I might as well watch it at 2x and finish in 5 minutes.

  19. 11 months ago

Because the people with the most free time and the most social media are zoomers
Zoomers have extremely short attention spans and can't make it through a movie so they gravitate towards ever shortening forms of media, tik tok is a prime example
Eventually the main form of media is going to be a rapidly flashing series of disjointed images, like sissy hypnosis but non pornographic as well
And you're going to look like a fricking loser if you aren't into it
