"Pretentious" is just a buzzword used by uncultured morons to criticize something they don't like but can't understand why they don't like it, most of the time at least. Go back to watching Euphoria or your Marvel movies.
Guy getting shot on the toilet is "LE EDGY", now? Jesus, how many people trying to criticize this film weren't even a fetus when it came out? Half the memes that came from your zoomlets are LE EDGY anyhow
It's baby's first "real" movie. It's pretty good, but is a victim of being overplayed/over discussed/overquoted. I still think it's pretty overrated even as someone who is a prostitute for Tarantino films and with what I said in mind.
This. Its a very well made and entertaining movie but if you think its the greatest work of cinema ever made you probably dont watch much outside of mainstream crap.
You’re like a moron that says “I love Lucy” or “citizen Kane” weren’t that great. You ignore literal decades of other media walking the trails they blazed. It was ground-breaking and subsequently heavily imitated. It led to a renaissance in Indie film too

No, I gave an example to illustrate my point. I will say name me 3 more influential films from the 90s.
It's a conspiracy. Every film critic and historian has picked random movies to praise in unity just to piss the truly great taste patricians like you off. Those people that have made films and graduated with degrees are all dumb. You, the zoomer posting on Cinemaphile living with your parents, you are the one with good taste that knows what's what.
>MUH DEEEEP
Yet another meme word with little to no actual meaning that is thrown left and right to appear to know more than the person using it actually does.
Its influence on film and media in general was massive. Tarantino's style has been so thoroughly imitated and absorbed into pop culture at large over the last 30 years that it won't seem like anything original if you see it for the first time now, but in the 90s this was the coolest thing around
I wish I could completely reject observable reality like half of the mulatto children itt, must be nice living in a world of your own design while anyone contrary to your delusions is cringe.
Why are legal adults still arguing with literal children? Let them feel alone, because when the walls finally crash around them maybe they'll finally shut the frick up for ten seconds.
Had Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love taken the roles of the drug dealer and his girlfriend, the movie would have been even more legendary.
Its probably his best work; you see homages to older films, you see motiffs such as honor, principles, you see the importance of passing on what you have learned and your lineage, you see John Travolta, the biggest star of the 70s meet Bruce Willis, the biggest star of the 80s in a movie in the mid 90s. Every performance is top notch. The editing being its best part. It just works and nothing quite like it has since he made it. Its rewatch value is what sets it apart from other movies because you're able to conciously and subconciously pick up on lots of things you missed on first viewing and there's lots going on. Its more than a gangster film. Its a pastiche of his homages to older movies, but its overall presentations makes it more than just a collection of movies Quinton saw and copy-and-pasted together.
Not only buffs, but film students use his movies as go-to's.
Pulp Fiction is style over substance. And That's a Good Thing. If you think its themes or plot are worthy of deep analysis you're probably either 16 or a midwit.
About 30% of it is good. The initial Jackson and Travolta scenes and the Uma OD'ing.
Everything else is pretentious and/or edgelord shit.
Filtered HARD. Go watch star wars or whatever is trending on reddit right now
Plebbit loves Soi Fiction you homosexual. Your film is mediocre crap.
>pretentious
Every pseud's favorite go-to word.
Still doesn't change the fact it is pretentious.

I hate capeshit and don't even know what Euphoria is. And Soi Fiction is pretenious.
what are it's pretenses?
That liking tarantino makes you cultured/an intellectual/a film aficionado etc
cope
People who call out people for using the word pretentious are pretentious
these posts were typed by vegan, Black person-loving zoomoid hands
Hate Black folk. Love steak. Pulp Fiction is a 7/10 film.
How is the rest of the movie “pretentious” the bruce willis story line is even more low brow than the parts you like
The Willis arc is just cringey edgelord shit.

Shit take. It was a seismic film. It changed the entire course of the film industry. It also helped cement Weinstein as a kingmaker too.
Cultural Impact =/= Quality of the Film

brainlet fanboy take
Prove me wrong, homosexual. What i said is objectively true.
I can tell by this comment if you ever tried to make a movie everyone in your family would laugh at your fat homosexual face
Because… le REFERENCES xD
Snatch > Pulp fiction
Boomer bait, ur-MPDG, even the soundtrack.
Based. Revolver is better than most of his filmography.
Guy Ritchie has only one good movie which he made twice
It's trash food levels for a movie. You'll find it in every college dorm unfortunately.
You are a moronic zoomer who is completely ignorant of the enormous cultural impact this film had. Frick off to Disney+
Everything sucked about it except Bruce Willis' storyline. That's the only enjoyable thing about the movie

filmbros fuming itt
Shit film for redditors to feel deep
What's to "feel deep" in this movie? That Bible quote in the end? Can't think pf anything else.
Nobody thinks this is a "deep" movie you cretin

Imagine being this mad because anons think your plebbit film is average at best.
>mad
>your film
who hurt you?
>calling others children
>using zoomer phrases like "who hurt you?"
just like other postmodernist and influential works such as Shrek, it's a very fun time and it was quite refreshing back then

Cinemaphile sucks now that it’s overrun with alt/redditors
most people don't think, they regurgitate.. seldom do i watch flicks as mindless and pedestrian as tarantinos
you missed the 90's so bad you can't even conceptualise why this movie is good?
Pulp Fiction is style over substance. And That's a Good Thing. If you think its themes or plot are worthy of deep analysis you're probably either 16 or a midwit.
It's Tarantino's best film. Everything goes downhill from there.
Why is it non-linear? Adds nothing to it.
Helps it fit into a compelling movie structure. If it went in order, the big moments would happen too close together.
