You mean Trick Moon specifically or all of them? I won't say Beanie + Bean is babyshit though.

I wonder how many failed pilots have been rejected but never leaked.

Most pilots fail because the creators copy what's already running on the network, pitch something aimed outside of the intended network demographic, or simply lack imagination and instead allow their hangups and nostalgia to overshadow their work.

A lot of creators these days really forget that they're in a business aimed at children and that the largest consumers of American animated content are either young kids or adults with disposable income, the latter of which would rather watch anime.

But instead of making cartoons that appeal to weebs, or double down on pandering to kids, they end up appealing to a sheltered and insulated demographic (wealthy urban LGBT Californian liberals), except that demographic doesn't really watch cartoons.

Nothing was wrong with these pilots they just happened to come out when CN was in the depths of its 24/7 TTGO madness and giving away half their shows to Max. Their performance since then is pretty conclusive proof that nobody knows what they're doing at that company and Zaslav didn't improve things.

A big part of pitching is actually speaking to executives and producers. You can show them an amazing pilot, but 95% of executives and producers have no taste. They only know money. So if you can't sell your idea that it can make a lot of money then they won't pick it up. It's why a lot of modern cartoons are from alum from other popular shows, because they have spoken to executives and understand how to sell them things by leveraging their experience on other popular shows, pointing out the market appeal of their show, and getting other creators to go to bat for them.

It's how Julia Pott was able to make Summer Camp Island while Brianne Drouhard wasn't able to make Harpy Gee.

This. The conceit that execs and producers have actual standards should have been abolished after Hanna-Barbera came onto the scene. Making a pitch is being able to tell people that you can make them a shitton of money, and the way you do that is with reputation and marketing. The few exceptions are people who already had the money to fund these toons on their own and are just roping others into fine tuning it, and those people with more charisma than Jesus Christ and Henry Kissinger combined.

          >an adventure show about a prince trapped in an orb and his little siblings being forced to protect the kingdom doesn't have potential because... uh... because you're a LE FURRY!
Shouldn't you be autistically babysitting another thread, J.?

The truth is they already greenlit the show they thought would be the most successful beforehand so none of these other shows even had a chance, even though trick moon ended up being the most popular. Can you guess what fricking show they greenlit? The fungies. They genuinely thought people were gonna love this shit

I think I have PTSD from Kainsworld art. I see this and all I can remember is the Gumball fandom around the time the show started.
Dude is over 40 and acts super weird. Likely lives at home with his folks.
