There was some episode of this show where an evil doll came alive and it freaked the shit out of me as a child. It was so out of place compared to the regular happy-go-lucky feel of the show. I remember being so paralyzed that I couldn't turn off the tv/change the channel.

Bro, I've broke down how sets works so many times. Plus they've seen how some sitcoms will break the illusion and have moments where they show the audience or the offset like in finales or outtakes. Their moronic women who have to feel right and will move the goal post "Well they must be reusing sets." which can be true but not when you're claiming a show from the 2000s is using a set from 1989 or whatever.
I just give up and when they say, "That looks like the such and such house..." I just let them have it.
