I do hate them.
I was saying "I don't love them, I hate them", but I accidentally posted it before I finished typing. sorry for any confusion this may have caused.
Dollar store art-house nihilism. Even their "opptimistic" films are "positive nihilism". All their films are creepy and depressing for that reason. And yes, I like horror films but I like them as comfort films.
The best horror films give you that cognitive dissonance between 'I know it's not real' and turning the hallway light on to go to the bathroom anyway. It sounds like you don't actually want to feel horror or terror or real fear.
Creepy nihilism has its place, and not just in horror films. The Counselor did it very well.

Have you never watched campy 80s horror for the fun + appreciating the practical effects? I like the type of horror you're talking about too, but I also enjoy stuff like Return of the Living Dead for different reasons
consider a horror film like the exorcist which is sincere in its depiction of the occult, yet it isn’t designed to demoralize you or propagandize you into thinking that evil is superior to good. in every a24 movie the evil wins in the end
>Dollar store art-house nihilism. Even their "opptimistic" films are "positive nihilism". > All their films are creepy and depressing for that reason. And yes, I like horror films but I like them as comfort films.
These are two contradicting statements.
>materialism
Do you mean materialism as in opposite of asceticism or as in opposite of "spirituality"? The first is fair to rail against, second is moronic and anyone who uses the word that way should die
>as in opposite of asceticism or as in opposite of "spirituality"?
Why do you think they are different things? asceticism is done for spiritual and divine reasons, if they are not done for those purposes it's just self sabotage
Well, I think there's a balance place between owning nothing and being overly attached to the things you own and the image presented by the things you own. That's why asceticism-materialism is a valid spectrum, there's a fair middle. "Spiritual" bullshit doesn't exist, "materialism" that way just means "reality"
Cinemaphile hates anything popular, they were loved on here when they were small and unknown.
>they were loved on here when they were small and unknown.
Bullshit
Everything that is unique starts out truly unique, once it hits the masses it gets infested with what the masses does best and ruin everything. It's basically what destroyed the studio.
>my propaganda is cooler than your propaganda because of coomer shit and car chases, and without the perfect ass shot it's nihilistic
the average mentality of the mentally ill, perpetual incel
Because most of their movies are all about setting up atmosphere for 90% of the run time then fast forwarding through the payoff for 10% and then ending exactly when the movie gets interesting. They can’t make a third act to save their lives and I’m tired of their formula.
Also, Iron Claw sucked.
I was gonna say looking through their library it’s all a million different kinds of movies made by different people. I kind of thought A24 was like a couple of guys that made movies but it’s just a random studio like WB or Universal or something.
…because it’s a publishing company? this is like asking why people seek out music albums from the same record label, or why people like video games from capcom or whoever
because of their massive inferiority complex, Cinemaphile treats A24 movies as pretentious movies for pseuds instead of what they actually are, which is the regular movies people used to watch in theaters before blockbusters forced them out
I just looked at all the movies that they've produced. Of the ones I've seen most of my favorites were in the last decade. While they've had some that are good in the last five it also includes the ones that were the weakest/mediocre:
Under The Silver Lake
Lamb
Dream Scenario
Priscilla
and the worst by far; Talk to Me.
I am very excited to see The Iron Claw on Saturday with some friends.
Some of my favorites of theirs are:
Under The Skin
Uncut Gems
Room
Midsommar
Climax
The Lobster and quite a few more
I don't.
I do hate them.

nailed it. they’re beloved by midwits who think they’re big brained for exclusively enjoying bleak, cynical films
>I like horror films but I like them as comfort films.
You realize horror is exactly the opposite of comfort?
not him but I find comfort in horror, knowing it isn't real.
The best horror films give you that cognitive dissonance between 'I know it's not real' and turning the hallway light on to go to the bathroom anyway. It sounds like you don't actually want to feel horror or terror or real fear.
Creepy nihilism has its place, and not just in horror films. The Counselor did it very well.
no, I just don't believe in horror the way you do.
to me, horror is real life. horror movies are an escape from real life.
Have you never watched campy 80s horror for the fun + appreciating the practical effects? I like the type of horror you're talking about too, but I also enjoy stuff like Return of the Living Dead for different reasons

They have that kind of depressed cynicism, not even the cool edgy cynicism with a lot of fun and vioence. Oh everything sucks and it's edgy as shit!
no, everything sucks and it's drab and boring. Evil doesn't even look cool.
You mean to tell me you don't lay back on the sofa wrapped in a snuggle with a hot cup of cocoa while watching The Human Centipede 2?
Reddit
Cinemaphile
moron. You got them mixed up.
>You got them mixed up.
This is incorrect.
I do not mate mistakes.
Because it's cool to do so.
That's not it even a little bit
>Dollar store art-house nihilism. Even their "opptimistic" films are "positive nihilism".
> All their films are creepy and depressing for that reason. And yes, I like horror films but I like them as comfort films.

Like every studio then.
I enjoy their kino and i'm not afraid to admit it. there I said it.
they're the 88rising of movie studios.
asian only propaganda?
bit rude innit
Tryhard & pseudo: the studio
took the words right out of my mouth
they make propaganda and call it arthouse
What kind of propaganda do they push?
interracial relationships, white man bad, materialism...etc
That sucks. Do israelites run this outfit?
The ceo and chairman are israeli
I knew it.
>materialism

Bullshit
no one here hates guy wrenching bone chilling genre redefining slow-burn kino thoughever
Their PR campaigns have turned into spreading negative energy. New generation Marxists are unlikable in acting like the world owes them shit.
what PR campaigns?
Movies for people on SSRIs
They're guys from New York
Everything that is unique starts out truly unique, once it hits the masses it gets infested with what the masses does best and ruin everything. It's basically what destroyed the studio.
>my propaganda is cooler than your propaganda because of coomer shit and car chases, and without the perfect ass shot it's nihilistic
the average mentality of the mentally ill, perpetual incel
yet here you are on Cinemaphile posting your opinion
>my propaganda is cooler than your propaganda because of coomer shit and car chases, and without the perfect ass shot it's nihilistic
I just watched The Green Knight last night and I friggin loved it. They make good movies.
Someone post a list of their films so I can determine whether they’re based or cringe. Leaning toward cringe.
who? kpop band?
They almost exclusively make pretentious schlock for midwits who want to feel smart
The Lobster was one of the worst things I’ve ever seen.
>it comes at night
>green room
>midsommar
>the lighthouse
those are the best, least pozzed and thrilling movies made by a24, you can ignore the rest. I'm not a fan of hereditary
Oh yeah, I forgot all about It Comes At Night. Love that movie. It's so deliciously bleak.
>It Comes At Night
I bet it does, you filthy little oik.
Who is we?
Because most of their movies are all about setting up atmosphere for 90% of the run time then fast forwarding through the payoff for 10% and then ending exactly when the movie gets interesting. They can’t make a third act to save their lives and I’m tired of their formula.
Also, Iron Claw sucked.
I have a better question. Why does Cinemaphile act like A24 movies are all made by the same people?
I was gonna say looking through their library it’s all a million different kinds of movies made by different people. I kind of thought A24 was like a couple of guys that made movies but it’s just a random studio like WB or Universal or something.
…because it’s a publishing company? this is like asking why people seek out music albums from the same record label, or why people like video games from capcom or whoever
Because things done a by a studio are connected even if they're done by different teams in the studio?
We prefer good, non-pozzed movies
A24 does the opposite
They insist upon themselves
they try too hard imo and most of the shit they pump out is too pseudo intellectual and preachy
I hated the Everywhere At Once Everything movie. Stupidest shit ever
THAT was made by these guys? I literally thought that was a Disney movie.
Yep
Yikes.
They're what Miramax used to be in the 90s, except more niche.
they gave ari aster a career
And turned Jenna Ortega into a sleazy porn bawd.
WHITE PEOPLE ARE WEIRD
No, they're normal, you're standards are weird.
I think you misunderstood my post. Maybe I should have used greentext.
Because A24 movies are all shit
They make movies for people (mainly women, it seems) who want to feel smart and better than other people.
>stolen 'art house' valor
Half legayc studio system ghoul AstroTurf, Half morons, Half Redditors cooming over mid shit to everyone's annoyance.
Cinemaphile hates anything popular, they were loved on here when they were small and unknown.
sam hyde told me there anti white
They've definitely fallen off.
Thoughts about Aftersun? I'm in need of depressing movies.
It is evil child abuse filth. Not a movie just an advertisement for smoking. So, yeah, it'd be pretty depressing
Did you enjoy it?
have a nice day
🙁
>have a nice day
because of their massive inferiority complex, Cinemaphile treats A24 movies as pretentious movies for pseuds instead of what they actually are, which is the regular movies people used to watch in theaters before blockbusters forced them out
but now that A24 is popular they just starting to shit out blockbuster trash, taking the worst of hollywood and amplifying it

Because I ain’t them
they represent evil
the dark arts
I don't watch their movies but Tacoma FD is like the only funny show on tv and I hope they continue funding it for me
They don't make capeshit
too israeli, too reddit
ass to 4 mouths
take note i didnt say i hate them for this
