He was my favorite when the show was on it's original run but since watching it again a few times he's tied for third with Richard. Those two characters lose a bit of their mystique when their whole magic man thing gets watered down through familiarity. Sawyer is consistently compelling no matter what, and while Locke gets significantly downgraded in each season following the hatch implosion, his season 1 and most of 2 practically *make* the show.

when I finally finished it this year the last plot point that felt like the classic mystery spooks of the early seasons was when Jacob and The Black Man are speaking on the beach watching the pirate ship come in
everything after that felt weak and poorly executed
Rewatching it recently I realized the whole show and especially the last season made much more sense in a binge. Back during the original airing the meme was "what's going on lmao" because of long season and midseason breaks so nobody was able to see the way it neatly ties up .

Im a zoomer, finished this show a month ago. Why was the finale so hated at the time of release? I thought it was great
