He didn't do it though. He was just indestructible while using his talk no jutsu the question is why nobody thought of just throwing him into space to get rid of him.
No because the whole show is magical girl stuff
If it only had magical girl transformations once in a blue moon it would count, but it has them every episode.
Molly gaining and using ghost powers is completely appropriate. She gains power over a ghost in the first episode, as the premise of the series. Don't compare it to that hamfisted Amphibia shit.
Anne having powers was foreshadowed since the very first episode of Amphibia, Molly being able to turn into a ghost was introduced at the last minute in the show's finale.
It's not the magic that doesn't fit, lmao. Conan the barbarian's world has plenty of magic, would it be cool if he went super saijin?
The appeal is a scrappy girl surviving and hanging out in a weird fantasy world. Giving her god powers is in direct conflict with that. It's attacking the core premise. It's like if Molly McGee turned out to actually hate everyone and she was just pretending to be nice to manipulate people.
Obviously this is just my personal opinion and the creator disagrees, since he gave her god powers, but I think that's where most of the backlash is coming from. People feel it doesn't fit with what they liked about the show and the character. If they felt it did, they wouldn't be whining.
If I hated the show why would I single out an aspect of it to dislike on the basis it doesn't fit with the show?
Anne has powers but they aren't "god level" until the series finale and Amphibia constantly makes anime references throughout (literally one of the foreshadowing for her powers is a direct Dragon Ball reference). >It's like if Molly McGee turned out to actually hate everyone and she was just pretending to be nice to manipulate people.
But the season literally does end with her killing death itself, which sounds even more jarring considering the show had been completely slice of life up to that point.

There was a sense of tension between episodes, though. In fact, it was kinda foreshadowed by the scare meter.

>Anne has powers but they aren't "god level" until the series finale
Literally every single time she brought out her powers she fricking curbstomped anything in front of her. It was such an obvious problem that killed all tension the writers literally forced her to use them as little as possible until the finale. >and Amphibia constantly makes anime references throughout
There is a world of difference between making a tongue and cheek joke and literally ripping off anime as a plot decelopment, you disingenuous bastard.

The first time she used them she failed to defeat Andrias and in her final battle with him she didn't win until he basically gave up and let her

Kim Possible did the "blue haired power up" thing first before Dragon Ball ever did so it's not really ripping off anime

To be fair, nothing in Amphibia is original or unique beyond the frog aspect. It's like the Stranger Things of western animation, it basically copy and pastes from various sources into one story.
a bline-and-you-miss-it flash of blue in her eyes is a cute touch but it's hardly foreshadowing for a reasonable viewer. Moreover it proves it was planned from the start yet it was as poorly prepared for as it was. Magic has very litlte presence in the series and they could have done that differently.
lol you wish gay. A single otter would stand no chance against a jaguar.
Bite to the neck and it's all over. Jaguars are impossible, they're might be smaller than the average big cat but are the most efficient land predator on Earth.
Jaguars don't frick with Giant River Otters because they're rarely ever alone, and generally don't leave the water.
Jaguars don't frick with Giant Anteaters because they might get killed by a single swipe of their claws.
Point is, Jaguars are smart, and that's the most terrifying thing about them.
Matt Danner said this scene from 3 Caballeros was Dragon Ball Z inspired
Lena from Ducktales 17 also had a blue sayian powerup minty fresh mode she used twice the whole show.
Oh boy another dragon ball z reference, how original and unique. Jesus why is DBZ the only fricking show these hacks have ever watch, like Christ sake.
Yeah exactly, like I'd get if they referenced something like UI but they only ever reference stuff from a show that is older then at least one of the person whose watching it's parents.
I wonder if Cinemaphile gets this moronic over transformations/power ups where the person's hair turns a different color and glows, claiming it's a stolen idea from DBZ
I somehow doubt it
>and then...and then...and then... and then s/he transforms into like a super saiyan like that time i was watching dragon ball z
these writers are all hacks just writing a show THEY themselves wanted to watch a sa child. they just work in self-centering project made for themselves
The duck is just a joke, it's supposed to look like DBZ.
I like the addition of the growing branches in Anne's hair, but really, the form isn't unique enough to not feel derivative, which I feel is a fair amount of the complaints about it. If they'd toned it down and just kept Anne's eyes permanently blue, or toned it up enough to where it became visually distinct like in her synergy form, I think a lot more people would be okay with it.
Molly on the other hand does it very well, I think. It doesn't feel so much DBZ as it does a generic power-up that's visually consistent with her show. The fact that her entire body is glowing orange instead of just her hair is also another step towards a unique identity. I'd say that it's the best out of the three, but I'm looking forward for Luz's inevitable powerup as well.
>Anne leaving a trail of leaves as she moves rather than a typical chi aura.
It actually sort of does (at least I noticed it during the fiirst battle with Andrias) but its not very well animated or noticeable so it mostly just looks like blue streaks.
pound for pount, they got the strongest bite force among all big cats, so there you have it. Millions of years hunting hard shelled alligators does that to you.
>K-kids like anime right? what's a popular anime? >Uhh that one with the colored hair and lots of screaming, Lizard cube or something. >Let's do that then!

You're right they went Bleach instead for their power-up
You didn’t get mad when Steven Universe did it
He didn't do it though. He was just indestructible while using his talk no jutsu the question is why nobody thought of just throwing him into space to get rid of him.
He got a Super Saiyan form too
Steven Universe Future was so bad that they would rather talk about the shitty characterizations and plot than the SSJ knockoff
We’ll be got it so cope with it
I thought they did.
>Uhoh Steven is about to die and the gems can't save him
>Seems like a good time to give him a new power just like my favorite anime
Like when?
pink steven
Yes, I did. SU is shit and is basically just a bunch of references strung together poorly with propaganda.
Nah bro, lets see some Smyphogear transformations
>Steven Universe
Rent free
How do you know?
Blame the generation of nerd writers
Looks like the Super Saiyan fad is coming back, good. Next thing you'll know Sailor Moon transformations are going to be a thing again.
The show already has one.
Does Miraculous count? If so then we kind of already have those transformations.
it does?
yes?
heh
>They call me...
Manly Bug
No because the whole show is magical girl stuff
If it only had magical girl transformations once in a blue moon it would count, but it has them every episode.
I’d be alright with that. Those can be cool if done correctly

What the frick. Going ghost was Danny Phantom's schtick.
>Anne having powers was foreshadowed since the very first episode of Amphibia
Doesn't matter how much you foreshadow something that's fricking stupid and doesn't fit with the show.
>magic doesn't fit in a show about a girl magically transported to a magical world of talking amphibians
So you hate the show, no matter what. Got it.
It's not the magic that doesn't fit, lmao. Conan the barbarian's world has plenty of magic, would it be cool if he went super saijin?

As if this moronic burger/fry analogy could become any more useless.
Hiyw was Anne's powerup foreshadowed from ep1

Anne getting super saiyan powers ruined Amphibia.
It's cool.
no it doesnt
*isnt i thought you said it looks cool
No I meant that too.
Cinemaphile will never convince me that Anne's Calamity form isn't dope as frick lmao
Why would I even try when you're right as frick?
It literally isn't
You're just one of those bootlicking fanboys where there cannot be a single bad thing to the corporate product you consoom
Mollybros I am so sorry.
What color is next? purple?
the CHADS of Cinemaphile WON
Jaguars are no joke, that pig and that otter would be fricking dead in minutes.

I don't get it
Because millenial cartoonists are creatively bankrupt and only copy what they know and since a good chunk of them are weebs you get shit like this.
The west is so creatively bankrupt, they're just stealing from 90's anime now.
an entire generation grew up on DBZ you moron
Cartoontards are 40 years behind the times
>Cartoontards

Cartroons
Deux ex machina superpowers are easier to write, and violence truly solves all problems.

How did a bunch of licensed ducks become the best selling comics ever everywhere except for the US?
Don Rosa and Ken Penders should collaborate on the next Shaq movie.
Matt Danner said this scene from 3 Caballeros was Dragon Ball Z inspired

Oh boy another dragon ball z reference, how original and unique. Jesus why is DBZ the only fricking show these hacks have ever watch, like Christ sake.
It's a well known show, like 'CSI' or something.
Because, sans Pokémon, Dragonball Z is the most recognizable anime whether you’re an anime fan or not
>why do they keep using the show with the most popular and recognizable transformations
Lmao who the frick else do you want them to reference
how about give them their own unique powerups god damn
DBZ is over 20 years anon, like I could get if they were referencing DBS but it's always "generically DBZ power up", like come the frick on.
dbz is approaching 35 while Dragon Ball itself is nearly 40
Yeah exactly, like I'd get if they referenced something like UI but they only ever reference stuff from a show that is older then at least one of the person whose watching it's parents.
Cowboy Bebop
Don't take it serious. Cinemaphile has the most disingenuous posters of all boards
Only good looking one is the Super Saiyan Blue wannabe in the Middle

in fact they do
She just looks like Brak.
The Ducktales example with Huey had an "Over 9000" reference, I think that's a far more eyeroll worthy
pretty
>and then...and then...and then... and then s/he transforms into like a super saiyan like that time i was watching dragon ball z
these writers are all hacks just writing a show THEY themselves wanted to watch a sa child. they just work in self-centering project made for themselves
Too many industry people whose childhood was just Sonic, Dragon Ball or Sailor Moon that want to use the same tropes from them.
It's always the fricking fruity gay hair super saiyan surprise powerup and never the high test real feral homie powerup
Shu is hot
SU went all out with it's DBZ references
Rape is why
Modern 20-30something writers think 90s anime references are the height of taste
If they were smart they wouldn’t be writting scripts for cartoons. I bet plumbers make more and work better hours too.
Who wore it better?
Anne
I really like Molly's Wraith form.
The duck is just a joke, it's supposed to look like DBZ.
I like the addition of the growing branches in Anne's hair, but really, the form isn't unique enough to not feel derivative, which I feel is a fair amount of the complaints about it. I wish Amphibia had played up the motifs connected to the powers, like Anne leaving a trail of leaves as she moves rather than a typical chi aura.
>Anne leaving a trail of leaves as she moves rather than a typical chi aura.
It actually sort of does (at least I noticed it during the fiirst battle with Andrias) but its not very well animated or noticeable so it mostly just looks like blue streaks.
Anime is ebin
Disney wants to appear more "Asian," they think that's how they'll reach out to the whippersnappers. It's also why they launched pic related.
Cuz
pound for pount, they got the strongest bite force among all big cats, so there you have it. Millions of years hunting hard shelled alligators does that to you.

Why does Amphibia trying to take itself seriously make me irrationally angry? Must be cause I hate post season 1 Adventure Time
Because you're a froggay.
>Why are 35 year old who are now in charge of Disney shit incorporating DBZ shit into things
gee take a wild guess.
Nolstalgia
hmm
It's fun.
DT was a one-off joke from a "playing my video game with Mom" episode. The game characters were just costume-changed Huey and Della.
That sounds like rape
You're right they went Bleach instead for their power-up
LOOK AT ME, I am your father now.
You were supposed to be the father of anime not cartoons
>LOOK WE CAN BE LE ANIME TOO
That honestly might not be a bad idea considering how badly Anime is steamrolling American Cartoons.
Amphibia was the one where it was actual cringe because the rest of show gave you the impression it wouldn't go THAT far with a homage.
Huey's arms are ugly
