He makes redditors feel like they "get it" so they can feel like they're above everyone else.

The guy just wants to do the classic 20s and 30s cinema experimentation but modern.

not really, he was very open about Inland Empire being just pure visual experimentation, and Mulholland Drive is fairly easy to get, hence why is his most beloved, normalgays got their sense of satisfaction.
If anything I've seen more normalgays trying to force meaning to his work in order to get it when he's very open about it not having a meaning most of the time.
      The redditors con themselves.

        >Mulholland Drive is fairly easy to get
If that is true, then how did this TwinPerfect grifter build a whole youtube career on not getting it while simultaneously catering to people who also didn't get it, but are stupid enough to let him convince them that he did?

Mulholland Drive has a completely straightforward narrative, you just need to not be a complete moron to get it

            >you just need to not be a complete moron to get it
Well, most people are complete morons.
Besides, getting the narrative isn't what Lynch is about. It's the, mostly emotional, somewhat spiritual, metatext to that narrative that it is all about.

this guy and Paul Thomas Anderson are the only two directors I'd unironically describe as being pleb-filters

As in, people who overrate them are plebs? Yeah I agree. They’re both good but people worship them more than they deserve

Malick is the textbook definition of pleb filter

Malick is sentimental drivel for hipsters. New World is his only good film

Pleb status? I’m thinking filtered. Malick is too spiritual for hipsters

There is nothing "spiritual" about Malick. Filtering yourself by thinking fee fees and spirit are the same thing

Every single Malick film save for maybe Badlands is based entirely on the spiritual/physical disconnect, transcendence, and man’s relationship with metaphysical

The spiritual and the physical are not "disconnected". You got conned by Descartes. Pleb filtered. Should have read Rene Guenon (pbuh) instead

I used pure science to isolate the precise word to characterize Malick's oeuvre. Thin Red Line is a succession of (admittedly) very pretty imagery but with nothing of substance underlying it. Just vague hipster yearning and insufferably soft sentiment. His movies are for little soft boys like you. Little soft sensitive boys

Hipsters don’t yearn. They indulge in the quirky nihilistic pathos of Lynch, like you.

You're just making stuff up. What does this even mean? Also, nice try. Did you think you had me pegged as a Lynch fan? I'm the one who called him out in this thread for being brain damaged by Transcendental Meditation. So try again

He has admitted in interviews that he gets all his """ideas""" when he does his stupid meditation bullshit and then he just films it. I feel sorry for him. He basically made himself mentally moronic, and he's genuinely talented when it comes to working with imagery and sound

Truth is America doesn't have any true creatives. All the surrealism and the Avant Garde shit was European. So they latched onto the one guy who seemed promising.

Lynch basically is European. He just keeps up a facade of Americana.
Why do you think this is a recurring motive in his work?
