Why does everything suck

Used to love cartoons/anime, grew out of it, but still loved watching them drunk. Now I'm drunk and I just can't enjoy anything. Everything sucks. TADC was nice I guess.

Is this the fate of old men? Just sipping beer and hating everything? Surely there's a better way

For me it's just no sincerity. I enjoy rando animated shorts on youtube and twitter just fine but big production stuff is such inhuman clinical sterile ironic detached smartassery designed for social media engagement that I don't even bother anymore. I'm practically begging for a chill earnest retelling of the fricking ugly duckling or some other cliche story done without any fricking subversion or irony, without wacky grating acting, without self righteous soap boxing, without contemporary allegory. Just tell me a goddamn plain old pleasant duck story numbnuts

We sorta agreed in the last proper TADC thread to hold off until the pilot reaches 200M, or some new development/Glitch promotional video comes out. Doesn't mean other people won't use it in their OP or make threads seething about it

Indie animation is just begining to become more popular

Man I hope it is. Western animation started sucking a while ago with a few exceptions like TADC and arcane, and anime was always a refuge with at least 2 or 3 good anime per season, but anime is really sucking lately. Still some good shit out there don't get me wrong, I'm currently marathoning one now, but the landscape is rough.

I've grown out of like 99% of western animation and like 80% of anime. I barely ever even got into comics to begin with but 90% of those don't even appeal to me in the first place. I'm more open to manga in theory than I am to comics but very little of it really ever catches my eye.

I make the kind of content that would appeal to me and have gotten publishing contracts more than once for it, but there isn't enough money in it for it to really get me past my sloth very often.
