This costume designed was to be showy and only look good. It is not functional or made for complex movements like Rosario's. So in OP's pic's case, quality as sacrificed for function and stunts
I'm convinced at this point that disney is using these productions to funnel money into private bank accounts, because in no world do these look like 100+ million dollar productions. jabba the hutt looked more "realistic" in the fricking 80's on a budget that was probably less than two episodes of this slop.
The bends in the foam are why. Normal skin ages with thinner, shallower wrinkles. These brain tendrils literally just look like foam, and they also look obviously sewn to her stupid pleather bandana, which is also too pristine and well kept to be believable. It reminds me of the way they fricked up Cad Bane because filoni literally forgot durosians existed in live action form already

GI doesn’t even look accurate to the cartoon either. Obviously the actors head shape can’t really be helped but he kind of looks like Rupert Friend was dunked in flour and had some markings drawn on. The same race in ROTS were costumes and looked way more detailed despite similar budgets.
Attach a head extension appliance to Isaac and he would have looked great. I forgot how fricking AWFUL the GI looked in booba feet - WOW. Unbelievably lazy and shitty. Filoni literally just focused on his cartoon designs translating and not staging true to the established live action looks. I hate this butthole
modern movies/tv series from large studios are made as cheaply as possible to maximize the money laundering / tax dodging. costume design and special effects are two of the easiest ways to cut costs. plus, with the reliance on cgi no one knows anything about costume design anymore.
because TV star wars is made at galaxy's edge with the park staff messing around in their cosplays, at least that's the impression they have gone for with it. They decided that lucas' cinematography style was something people didn't notice, cos what people really like about star wars is the characters from the cartoon Clone Wars
