Now go enjoy your day off." Just a shot of Lute going back and forth, until finally she does all her list in one go. Shows up to work the next day, Adam "Hey you enjoy your day off? I really fo spoil you too much."

Because she loves him. The animators didn't make it subtle at all when in the first frames of unmasked Lute she's giving him bedroom eyes when he's not looking. The fact she wears her uniform all the time shows how loyal and dedicated she's to him.

I think Lute just has resting smug face. You know, when she doesn't have resting murder face. She's definitely obviously goo goo ga ga in love with him though.
I thought those were just the clothes he wears all the time to make him look bigger and unique. He obviously is self concious about his true looks. In a place like heaven where everyone has a special look, he just looks bland as hell compared to them.
Adam’s unique appearance, golden eyes, wings, and perfect humanity, is the result of him having no sin. Not to mention, he is actually humongous in that Lute is practically a child in comparison to him.
The mask might actually be symbolism on him hiding away his misery in Heaven (since everyone else is way happier there than him) or/and focusing heavily on being the sacrificial lamb. When it literally breaks, his entire personality changes.
Lute is probably the only person Adam considers a friend, so she gets asked to hang out. And of course, she's happy to accept. They've spent centuries avoiding the elephant in the room, but seem content just being around each other. No need to make it weird.
