The shows don't fail, they just don't become once-in-a-lifetime mass media hits that move merchandise like hotcakes. Nick wants gold with each and every strike, and they'll burn show after show and bury IPs until they get what they want.
SpongeBob just happened to be the cash cow that survived long enough to see cable tv decline as the main source of entertainment. Remember even when it first premiered Rugrats was still considered king of the channel. It wasn’t until the mid 2000’s it became Nick’s flagship, but even then it had other shows flanking it in the likes of FoP, Avatar, Danny Phantom, and whatever smut Dan Snider was making. As Cartoon Network began muscling in as the favorite channel, more weight got placed on SB’s shoulders, and by the 2010’s tv animation was in another state of flux as internet started budding in on what was hip. SpongeBob endured though memes and marketability in a way it may not have had it been put out to pasture even 5 years earlier. Now it’s 20+ years old and considered an institution almost like Scooby Doo where it’s not about connection to the original so much as it is the iconography of the pineapple.
Greed.
It has to be SILLY
woah
Im glad this joto bombed his career with the book of life
what happened
Is that from that MAD skit?
no
Why throw money at a failing product?
Most of the shows don't even get the chance to fail.
They're wasting money by creating shows only to sabotage and axe them

Why would they do that? That's insane.
No it's not. It makes perfect sense if you snort several buckets of cocaine, like most network executives do.
anything that isn't as successful as spongebob is considered a failure
because it's funny.
because they are a mess and dont have faith.
I'm surprised nobody hasn't set fire to Nick Studios yet.
>nobody hasn't
I haven't yet
Then what's taking you so long?
everyone should be a SpongeBob squarepants

It needs to bring in more money than the sponge they sell
SpongeBob is a character who rivals Mickey Mouse and Mario in recognizability. I don't think Nickelodeon ever expected that.
Why do they do it?
To be fair, half of the shows they murder are pretty shitty so I don’t fully blame them.
made for corruption
damn she's thicc
Wheres the rest of the episodes?
Money and afraid of taking risks.
Because they hate you
