It doesnt really play into mainline? Outside of morales and maker its had zero effect in 616 (and I guess black nick fury). The new ultimate line is another new universe, and only maker affects that.
The Ultimate line did influence the MCU movies, they cast Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury, Ultimate X-Men was a too edgy for my taste

there's a CBR article about it being a myth, but when you read morrison's reasoning and making it a "joke", it doesn't hold up at all and it looks to me like morrison is either lying or doing damage control for a stupid joke that was needless, had no punchline, and no one laughed at.
