Unpopular opinion but I like the ugly characters and I think its refreshing that the show cast ugly and "normal" looking actors just like real life. It makes the show more grounded and realistic and keeps to the gritty realism flavour.
I understand that media is supposed to portray fantasy and be beautiful, but I'm sick and tired of watching pretty cute 10s and handsome chads live lives I'll never have and I can relate more to characters who are balding and oversized features and jaws and look aged and tired. That's part of the reason why Breaking Bad was so well recieved, half the men were bald, just like real life.
