No because it still fulfills contractual obligations, gives them low ratings due to low cable plan buy ins for the channel, and can lead to write offs for shows new execs don't believe in.
I only ever watched this channel because it aired cartoons at night while nickelodeon didn't. I don't know if it's still like that or not because I don't use cable anymore
Since NickRewind stopped playing on TeenNick now is probably a good time to air the classics on Nicktoons.
But then again why waste your time if literally almost all the classic Nick content are now streaming on Paramount+.
Music rights probably
Even SNL, which Peawiener claims to have every episode of, has many episodes that are cut to less than half the original length
I think Nick just throws their hands up and doesn't bother trying to sort it out if there's any legal issues
It's strange they cut out the music segments for Seasons 2-6 but made Season 1 completely unavailable.
Even if you don't care about the music guests, they still had sketches before the music segment to introduce them, so those sketches are gone too.
It's a channel that they can sell low to cable providers since it recycles already produced shows and has almost no overhead. Any money Nick makes on it is pure profit.
main channel nick so rarely aired avatar but nicktoons was airing reruns for years after. I actually missed the second half of season 3 avatar, they never fricking aired the rerurns, so I had to catch them on nick. Its also how I ended up watching Iron Man Iron Adventures, Action League Now , etc.
Back then it had a purpose. early-late 00's Nicktoons was pure kino, and the original shorts and shows they had for it were godly >kaput and zosky >three delivery >corneil and bernie >kappa mikey >etc. etc.
with the good nicktoon reruns as well as not speeding up the spongebob episodes like the nick feed subtlely has been doing since 2013 i think (though i haven't watched nicktoons since 2019 lol so i don't know if they speed up the spongebob episodes for commercial time now like Nick has for 10 years). Once they rebranded like the other Nick channels did, they went massively downhill.
did they really increase its numbers? back when I watched nick it was just five to seven live shows and gameshows >All That >Pete and Pete >Kenan and Kel >Cousin Skeeter >Clarissa >Figure It Out >Legends of the Hidden Temple >DoubleDare
spongebob, nick jr, loud house, some sitcoms no one cares about that will get sent to teennick or cancelled anyway (danger force, some game show, idk there's a few others i'm not too knowledgeable. sometimes smurfs, sometimes middlemost post, but mostly spongebob, loud house and nick jr/movie reruns)
god i'm so glad I grew up with the last age of golden age cable. it's all downhill for all tv from here.
Nicktoons was my favorite channel back in the day, until 2009 when it became basically an Avatar-only channel. After a while of that they transition into their current format where they just air the same cartoons that already run on the main network just without the live-action shows in between
You answer yourself, is a place to put the trash they don't wanna air
yeah but isn't that bad for business to intentionally have a graveyard channel
seeing how the shows there die, I think they just simply don't care

Not really. They still get money off of it from ad revenue and cable subscriptions. Same reason why Boomerang and Disney XD are still around.

It was originally intended to be a commercial-free channel for all the older cartoons, but that didn't last too long, and now it's a dumping ground.
Didn't they use to have a channel for old shows?

They're still missing a lot of stuff, like All That Season 1. Did they lose the masters or something and it's lost media?

it's why cousin skeeter is still not there

Honestly had the best stuff on it compared to the main channel

Man Spongebob really killed Nick
boomerang is better than nicktoons
doesnt boomerang only show recent toons lately? I remmeber seeing swat kats there many years ago
boomerang has been a dead channel for years it should be dead, I prefer nicktoons instead since they air the Smurfs reboot series there.
nicktoons was decent in the early 2000's (cause I watched it) but damn do they remove shows quickly off after a month or so.
Is Nicktoons even still around?

so what does the original nickelodeon channel air anyway
sitcoms for little girls
