This, but also apparently none of the staff enjoyed working on it. Which is a damn shame, because I think it does have some great elements here and there. It's not perfect, but I'm reading the book it was inspired by and now I wish I could pick and choose certain aspects from both to make a really solid version. It's a childhood favourite of mine even though I acknowledge what doesn't work so well in it today.
One thing that is glaring to me is that movie Kayley sucks. Even as a kid I thought Garrett was cool but never thought much of Kayley, even though I really like the concept of a medieval girl wanting to become a knight. In the book, Lynett (that's her name, not Kayley) is a more interesting character. She's much more grumpy, but without giving it away it's absolutely justified. She also has straight, dark hair, is tanned and even has muscle if I remember correctly. I got to a point that addresses a flaw of hers that I thought was interesting: in the book, she has a very sharp tongue, but because she doesn't know when to stop, she isn't taken seriously. There's a scene in the movie where I think they tried to incorporate this (Kayley suddenly chewing out Garret before he gets shot), but it comes the hell out of nowhere and feels OOC for Kayley. I need to pick up the book again, I wish I wrote these things down before.

All I know is this quote that floats around sometimes saying that everyone didn't enjoy working on it because it was trite, but I find it hard to believe that was tge case all across the board. To be honest because of my biases Inever looked into it, too depressing a thought.

Meanwhile when Disney tried to be Warner it turned out great.
Fun fact, cats Don't Dance and Emperor's New Groove had the same director.
I think my favourite character is The Forbidden Forest. I absolutely love how weird, dangerous, and magical it was and on every rewatch I wanted to see more of it.
laid the groundwork for the heat death of 2D animated films because for the next five years, Dreamworks and even Disney would be releasing similarly shitty movies. what’s not to hate?
>Anastasia, Quest for Camelot, The King and I, The Road to El Dorado
blatant Disney copies. They aren't like Cats Don't Dance and Prince of Egypt, which were its own thing despite also being musicals
just because it has the lines "crappy"/"get the hell back to"/"holy ship" and a scantily clad female like Chel doesn't make it different enough from 90s Disney
You're a moron with an extremely limited knowledge of movies in general, movies you think are similar are only so because you literally don't watch any other shit and don't have a proper frame of reference.
>You're a moron with an extremely limited knowledge of movies in general, movies you think are similar are only so because you literally don't watch any other shit and don't have a proper frame of reference.
SO MUCH THIS.
Frick that anon
It was really more of a copy/tribute to the Bob Hope and Bing Crosby “Road to” movies, done in a Disney art style, than a copy of Disney movies themselves.
You would probably recognize them as those old people movies that that one Family Guy episode, Road to Rhode Island, was paying homage to.
i already know this. It also has the same concept as The Man Who Would Be King. Regardless, i didn't like the film. Lacks a strong storyline and fleshed out characters
“i don’t like it” and “it’s ripping off disney” are two different statements. i don’t care whether or not you like it, but you’re off base if you say it’s a disney knockoff when it’s not.

i don't like it and, while not a Disney knockoff, it's not that original of a film

lmao you get utterly btfo by your "I don't like it because it's like Disney" false statement and this is your pathetic cope? This isn't even a thread about El Dorado moron, why do you think people want to hear your misinformed opinion about a completely unrelated movie? Is it autism? Well let me spell it out for you so that even an autist understands: no one here wants to hear it, go bother your tard ranglers or reddit if you desperately want affirmation regarding your shitty opinions.

to be fair, Quest for Camelot and El Dorado have the same problem : they're too innocuous. But whatever, leaving the thread now if no one is interested in my opinions

That's not an criticism sharkgay. Are you just typing random English words now? If you're going to take that advice now you might as well take it to heart and frick off from all the other threads too since no one assuredly wants to hear your opinions there either.

I don't get what you mean by it being innocuous, speciallty regarding el dorado. Shit's awesome, and has one of the toppest-tier waifus ever animated; that alone puts it in the top shelf mah boi

True, but I still enjoy Quest for Camelot and the Road to El Dorado. I'd say Anastasia too if her personality didn't become obnoxious the second she meets Dmitri.
It has one good character and the rest is actual horseshit that people hate that it ruins the potential kino we could have gotten with that one character
Maybe it's just not good
fpbp
Warner tried hard to be Disney instead of doing its own thing.

Is it the raep?
No. I just finished writing this

What did the staff say about not enjoying working on it? Bad work conditions or just a bad product no one thought would succeed?

Songs are good, story & characters are forgettable

Ruber's an absolute legend but the movie as a whole is trash
The animator that did his scenes was having the time of their life. The OG Ruber thread from years back was great.

The two-headed dragon is a ripoff of both Genie from Aladdin and Timon & Pumbaa from Lion King
I Stand Alone slaps though

You got nothing on Anastasia you ugly chud.
it didn't live up to the charming masterpiece that is Space Jam
It has one good character and the rest is actual horseshit that people hate that it ruins the potential kino we could have gotten with that one character
i dont care i want more aart of her
because is fricking garbage the only good part was Ruber the main antagonist
>Not Disney
>Mediocre
That's it
Kayley was hot but Devon was hotter.
Too many people weren't included in Ruber's plan.
