Because of the shoehorned "relatable personal life" bullshit JJ added
Also the mystery box of the rabbit's foot is annoying. PSH helps make it above average but it's probably the weakest in the series (maybe better than II but they're close)
Anyone that says 2 was so bad they needed to reinvent is a zoomer
Why do you need to know what the Rabbit's Foot is? Why would anyone in the movie know what the Rabbit's Foot is? That's like Japan knowing what a nuke was before it dropped on them
All you need to know is it's bad news if the wrong people have it. It wasn't a problem in every good Indiana Jones movie, but it's "le mystery box" when you see JJ's name on a movie
>It wasn't a problem in every good Indiana Jones movie
Except every Indiana Jones movie actually shows what the thing is and even describes it "possible" power beforehand.
MI:3 literally ends with >"want to know what the rabbit's foot is?" >"no, lol"
So you must have a ceremony in a dark temple where the bad guy unleashes the full power of the Rabbit's Foot, with cgi vomiting all over the screen. You were born after 9/11

I'm just tired of brain broken culture warriors injecting Kathleen Kennedy and Bud Light everywhere it doesn't belong. I'm glad Bad Robot is far away from MI now, but MI3 put the series back on track after MI2 (which wasn't a horrible movie, but it's a horrible MI movie)
I mean it was just two movies before that one, so it's hard to talk about a "series" already.
When 2 came out it was just a sequel to a movie from a few years before. It wasn't as common as it is today when everything is laid out to be a franchise from the get-go anyway.
I think the opener was a dumb decision. To open a movie like that, and expect the audience to stay engaged is a goofy film school move. It's classic JJ Abrams, over the top writing for PSH climaxed in the opener so everything felt like a letdown after.
6 is one of the best action movies of its decade and even found a way to include Julia in the story. Shame no more Brandt, don't even think they killed him off via dialogue just never mention him again
Yeah he just disappeared after 5 kek. Seems like he just got lost in the shuffle of bureaucracy. Really surprised they didn't bring him back for this one.
Why didn’t they show him steal the Rabbits Foot? He just disappeared inside the building for 30 seconds while other shit was happening and then just came out with it. I had to rewind because I thought I missed it.
only the first one is good
all of the sequels suck, yes ALL OF THEM
you gays who praise generic trash like Fallout seem to have fried brains from a decade of capeshit
As others mentioned, it was the fault of Abrams and his tasteless direction. I'm looking forward to pirating the new one, but I expect it to be a retread of 4 just like 5 and 6 were.
israelite israelite abrams
antisemitism ain’t cool man do better
2 was bad, so they had to reinvent it. 3 is that process. It is the 'St. Anger' of MI movies.
MI:2 is not a great Mission Impossible movie, but it's a GREAT Tom Cruise doing Tom Cruise things movie
It feels like a generic 2000’s thriller movie that borrowed the Mission Impossible branding.

If you're Australian, it is the worst Australian based film ever made. Worse than even Baz Luhrmanns Australia.
>If you're Australian
I would've killed myself
Nicole kidman looked beautiful in that movie

And the Rabbit's Foot is in a biohazard container, it's probably the type of weapon Benji described earlier in the movie
>Rabbit's Foot
>in a biohazard container
its actually a rabbit fart but someone misheard it as foot
THe problem with 2 was that is was just a completely different genre than 1.
People were expecting another spy thriller, not Woo kino.
I saw 2 in the theater when I was 14 and remember my dad and little sister loving it too
2 made like half a billy before 9/11, JJ "reviving" the series is pure revisionism
I mean it was just two movies before that one, so it's hard to talk about a "series" already.

They all suck after mi2
No 4-6 are masterpieces

>Really surprised they didn't bring him back for this one.
Same but then again they'd have to bring him in bags at this point so I get it
YOU DON'T THINK I'LL DO IT?!
The only thing I know about this movie is that kanye did a song for it.
I like the hook
%3D%3D
Abrams nearly killed the franchise until Brad Bird saved it with Ghost Protocol
Why didn’t they show him steal the Rabbits Foot? He just disappeared inside the building for 30 seconds while other shit was happening and then just came out with it. I had to rewind because I thought I missed it.

My brain has been enhanced by decades of Cruise kinography.
it's the second best one
the only good thing israelite israelite did
The first one is an actual cinematic masterpiece.
While it has its issues, mostly for how “TV” it is, but the strength of PSH’s performance alone elevates this movie.
4>1>6=5>3>7>>>>2
>alias: the movie
I fricking hate JJ Abrams. So happy to see him blacklisted from Hollywood along with his cronies Kurtzman and orci
>So happy to see him blacklisted from Hollywood
was he?
what happened?
still, good news.
As others mentioned, it was the fault of Abrams and his tasteless direction. I'm looking forward to pirating the new one, but I expect it to be a retread of 4 just like 5 and 6 were.
I'm 10 minutes 52 seconds into MI 2 and so far it's the greatest movie I've ever seen
Saw this one in theaters. Remember the brain exploding device being rather cool and original.
look at the people who wrote and directed it
