Tron has always had its roots in Cinemaphile. The original concept art, like many 80s sci-fi films was drawn by moebius. It also helps that uprising's style was inspired by aeon flux, a cartoon that looks like something straight out of heavy metal magazine
I wish more adult animation took cues from Aeon Flux instead of Simpsons. It was one of the few mature animated shows that didn’t rely on comedy or sitcom format.
>Blame Legacy sucking ass.
That one is just as shameful as Uprising's cancellation. Legacy is an audiovisual perfection, it's the highest pinnacle of design in the entire history of human civilization, it's physically impossible to top this marvelous beauty. And all of it was wasted on the most dogshit writing imaginable. I've rewatched it dozens of times just to see and hear perfection once again, and it hurts so much each time.
You can't half-ass Tron. Its unique aesthetic and visual style necessitates a degree of effort and imagination put into it that accurately and appropriately depicts its world and characters. Even as dated as the original film looks, it was a technological marvel at the time and took a lot of effort to make it look like it does. The animation medium naturally lends itself well to properly rendering Tron's universe in ways that live-action can't, though Legacy shows it can be done.
It helps that almost everyone who's ever worked on any major Tron project has been super passionate about the franchise, which leads to a degree of quality that Disney's other flagship titles often don't get. With Uprising in particular, you can tell the creators and crew had a real love for both the original film and Legacy, but were also imaginative enough to branch out and make their own stuff that was wholly unique too.
Why the frick did disney drop this and motorcity? Easily the best cartoons they had in decades. Both run by crews who really wanted to make something fricking cool, but then disney suits show up and shut it down, and does some weird red tape scam shit so the IPs are firmly pinned down so no one can do anything with them. Why do they do this? Do they actively attack original stuff like this for a reason, or just for shits n giggles?
It was a bad time for action cartoons in general. With Disney in particular, this was around when the Lucasfilm and Marvel acquisitions happened. For them, why bother making action cartoons based off of old properties or original ideas when they could just fall back on the tried-and-true cash cows that were Marvel Comics and Star Wars?
Monkey’s Paw for all of you: >TRON as a franchise becomes more popular and gains the financial backing needed to carry the productions to competition
BUT >This happens because TRON is adopted as a Marvel brand and everything that comes with that
Why didn't Disney keep the original art style and animation team from the teaser trailer? why did they cheapen out like a bunch of c**ts and hired Invader Zim's creator who worked on Motorcity, but his art style didn't translate as well to Tron Uprising unless we count Marra or what the blue haired chick's name is.
Also Frodo Baggins for a Batman Beyond-tier protagonist is gay and stupid, that guy always makes everyone a shy whiny autist.
The cartoonists liked what they were doing.

>was inspired by aeon flux
Which was animated by the japanese

>Aeon Flux
>The Maxx
>Spawn
The 90s tried but even Aeon Flux was eclipsed by it's Liquid Television counterpart Beavis & Butthead
Imagine if they spent more than a week writing Tron: Legacy's script and if Disney didn't send Uprising to XD to die
imagine how popular Uprising would be right now with how popular low-framerate cgi is these days
it really was ahead of it's time for a tv show
Blame the MCU and Star Wars. Tron was going to be Disney's big blockbuster franchise until they managed to acquire Lucasfilm and Marvel
Blame Legacy sucking ass. Uprising is amazing but it's tied to trash.

I liked Tron 2.0 more than either.

Short term profit rules over long term strategy. Need to make those quarterly reports look good
It's such a shame the show was rendered in 720p and all supposed 1080p releases are shitty upscales
The directing, storyboarding, and ost of this show was so good. The cutting edge of western animated tv shows in what's possible
Wasn’t it done completely by that cgi japanese studio?
This show was amazing. I never realised Cyrus was voiced by Jesse Pinkmans actor, but in hindsight they do sound similar
This show introduced me to Lance Henriksen and I will forever be grateful for that.

I'd rather see it die a soft and gentle death than paraded around as a shambling corpse.
Will this show ever see a comeback? They brought back Clone War so I'm still crossing my fingers.
