How many of you guys actually had any female character toys??? Princess Leia was probably the only one I can actually think of and it was her in disguise from ROJ
>How many of you guys actually had any female character toys??
Never had one lol but I always wanted a Xena figure that I saw at a toy store once. Was embarrassed to ask my parents for it because a) it's a lewd toy more or less, and b) it can be seen as a doll. So in my childish mind I thought I would be seen as a pervert or a homosexual.
I had Leia in her Endor scout gear and chick from Star Trek that my father bought me even though I never asked for it. She was romulan I think, the toy was cool even though I never cared about Trek
I owned Baroness from G.I. Joe, the Pink Ranger from Power Rangers(so my Green Ranger could get laid), I had the Invisible Woman, since you can't have the Fantastic Four without her. I also had a Mary Jane figure that came with a Spider-Man in a Toys R Us set called "Famous Couples," and would play with certain female characters. Just as long as they were acceptable for me to own for whatever reason.
I didn't had any action figures, but I had Sailor Moon merchandise
To be fair though, I didn't had the money to buy more action figures other than the protagonist of any show I was currently invested in.
I enjoyed playing with my sister's Barbies and probably would have been happy with a girl action figure is she was a cool knight or something but they were all shit.
I was disappointed I didn't have an April toy until I got the news van she came with, but she was a green variant. Also I had 3 Janines. This one had some pantsu.
Princess Leia was initially undershipped with the Power of the Force line because Kenner thought no-one would buy her. Demand for Leia was ridiculously high though because everyone knew you couldn't have proper Star Wars adventures without Han, Luke, Leia and Chewbacca. That was something that was pretty unique about Star Wars specifically at the time.
No-one gives a shit about any of the new characters for Lightyear. They all suck and they have generic Gears of War character designs. Not to mention that Buzz Lightyear's name is the title of the fricking movie and they go out of their way to make him just as uninteresting as all their new OCs.
I was never a fan of human toys as a kid, I was obsessed with animal figures instead. It was like my own little version of Pokemon where I wanted to collect as many species of animals as possible.
I'd say most kids I knew growing up had at least one girl action figure, if only for the boy action figures to save. If you had a sister, you'd have at least a couple because your parents would buy some for her to be fair since they were buying you figures, and she'd of course never want them and they'd become yours.
I had LEGO minifigs of Wonder Woman, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy as a kid. Also had a female civilian from one of those City camper van set. Do they count? The other minifigs I had were all male because LEGO was sexist for some reason.
From the top of my head, the female Bionicle toa (Gahli, Nokama, Hahli), Princesses Dot and Atta from a Bug’s Life, Bo Pep from Toy Story and the red Beetleborg (though when I first got it I liked to pretend it was a male). Hell, this makes me want to go browse through my old toy collection just to find out, but they’re all stored away in some relative’s house house somewhere. Ah well.
I had a Scarlett that came with a big pack of GI Joe's I got back in the day, and a yellow power ranger from a happy meal, can't remember having any other female characters as a kid
>female transformers, or at least Blackarachnia and Airazor >Bionicles, because who the frick can tell the difference? >Probably more, but I can't remember
Because toys of female characters from boy franchises aren't made. Remember how Marvel and Hasbro refused to make toys of female characters from the MCU until people complain ? Also she didn't exist in the 90s.
>Remember how Marvel and Hasbro refused to make toys of female characters from the MCU until people complain
They still linger in the bargain bin. I don't think i've ever seen a single Black Widow figure leave that limbo.
Oh, you think I'm joking? twitter.com/i3SIZoznYt They literally just shoved pallet after pallet of star wars merchandise into this big ass shredder. Just tearing a bunch of plastic apart because even fricking liquidation stores do not want to touch this thing. Tens of thousands of dollars on pallets over 8 feet high around them just being shoved into a giant industrial death pit because fricking NOBODY wanted it after the shitshow that was Last Jedi.
She'll end up in there same as all the Ghostbusters 2016 merch.
>Unless someone returns their order, we're really sold out. We have seen some wonderful and inspired customs involving head-swaps from Marvel Legends and other 6-inch action figure lines, so Rose is getting some use as the basis for a number of cool custom action figures.
At least something is being done with them.

Oh yeah, massive deluxe playsets and plushies and collectable figures and the whole nine yards. Sold like horse shit. Ironically that might lead to them being worth money a few decades down the line.
I remember getting the Lego set. I lost of the minifgures and destroyed the car as soon as I built it because i was pretty careless when it comes to Legos.
>In-universe, either only Buzz and Zurg where releases as figures (With vastly different designs to the movie) or no one bought the others and doubled down on Buzz with new gimmicks..
State of Buzz's toyline.
>Buzz's actual toy design was only slightly based off the movie, and it blew up. Then they made the animated TV show (Star Command) based on the toys (???) >Sox apparently was extremely popular in the 90s and thats why Andy didn't own one
It really just falls apart when they start trying to make sense of this bullshit.
I fricking hate my generation's writers. They have this idiotic circular logic where it's like "oh, I made a retcon to something that's been around for 25 years that I didn't create, that means it's always been this way, and you have to accept it because I'm holding the speaking stick."
it really is a shame that "girl toys" dont sell. i had some really neat invisible woman toys a cool wonder woman toy, but largely there werent very many cool femme hero toys. i always pretended some of the bionicles were girls, especially the hot blue one who actually was a girl
I haven't paid attention to it because "diznee shit lol" but the movie is supposed to be the original movie that Andy saw but there was also a weird (not seen) 90's cartoon adaptation and that's what Andy's Buzz toy came from?
Her design is shit, nothing to do with her race. All the designs in the “fake” movie suck
>nothing to do with her race.
lol
I can't stop looking at the bottom half of her legs and comparing them to a Zaku's.
You are right.
How many of you guys actually had any female character toys??? Princess Leia was probably the only one I can actually think of and it was her in disguise from ROJ
same

Your childish mind was right.
I had a Gwen Tennyson/Lucky Girl toy I kept in my underwear sometimes while I slept
I had a few but not many.
I had a few of the Exo Squad girls. Also some female GIJOEs.
I had Leia in her Endor scout gear and chick from Star Trek that my father bought me even though I never asked for it. She was romulan I think, the toy was cool even though I never cared about Trek
I think I didn't actually have any female toys lol, I would just imagine any female character I needed.
I owned Baroness from G.I. Joe, the Pink Ranger from Power Rangers(so my Green Ranger could get laid), I had the Invisible Woman, since you can't have the Fantastic Four without her. that's fun
i would for the helmet, i like the mark 2 eva
Teela from He-man, Jinx from G.I. Joe.
Starwars, I had that Leia and the Jabba's Prisoner Leia.
Also Kenner Alien Queen
I'd say most kids I knew growing up had at least one girl action figure, if only for the boy action figures to save. I had all the Bionicle sets as a kid, including both versions of Gali, Macku, Hahli, both versions of Nokama, and Roodaka.
>quick change the subject!
You will never be a real woman.
dunno i only played with dinosaurs frick people lame as shit humans
I had LEGO minifigs of Wonder Woman, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy as a kid. Also had a female civilian from one of those City camper van set. Do they count? The other minifigs I had were all male because LEGO was sexist for some reason.

>Bionicles, because who the frick can tell the difference?
>Probably more, but I can't remember
Because she was marketed towards girls
girls want feminine toys
Molly and her peers would rather buy Barbie.
lmaoing at anyone thinking that figure would be on store shelves in 1995.
Because toys of female characters from boy franchises aren't made. Remember how Marvel and Hasbro refused to make toys of female characters from the MCU until people complain ? Also she didn't exist in the 90s.

She's fated to be a shelfwarmer.
what do they do with the toys that simply aren't going to sell
They throw them way or sell them for a penny
Pushed into a giant shredder, like Star Wars.
Oh, you think I'm joking? twitter.com/i3SIZoznYt They literally just shoved pallet after pallet of star wars merchandise into this big ass shredder. your link doesn't work
Sell them in bulk to discount stores.
I never understand how people use restock toys as evidence of Star Wars failing.
>restock
lol they wish
Not familiar with the 'bouquet of Roses', huh? Those toys sold so horribly they had to get inventive to reduce stock.
https://www.entertainmentearth.com/product/HSC3735DOZ?id=CO-408272913
There were also versions that mixed them in with real roses.
>Unless someone returns their order, we're really sold out. We have seen some wonderful and inspired customs involving head-swaps from Marvel Legends and other 6-inch action figure lines, so Rose is getting some use as the basis for a number of cool custom action figures.

there was ghostbuster toys?
Oh yeah, massive deluxe playsets and plushies and collectable figures and the whole nine yards. Sold like horse shit. Ironically that might lead to them being worth money a few decades down the line.
I remember the ridiculous levels of cope when that movie bombed. It was legendary and it never actually ended.
What kinds of kids would watch that movie and let alone ask their parents to buy them those awful toys?
adults. Adults want those kind of toys, for collecting. Then some kids may want it, little kids may get surprisely into some movies when really young
>Adults want those kind of toys
Not that toy
I remember getting the Lego set. I lost of the minifgures and destroyed the car as soon as I built it because i was pretty careless when it comes to Legos.
The same reason he didn't technically own a Ms. Potato head toy, but his sister did?
That armor in those colours is boring and the helmet is just bad.
the Lightyear movie is a meta movie that is currently showing in realtime in the Toy Story Universe
They still don't make as many female action figures as male.
He doesn’t have any of the cast from Woody’s show either and he was Andy’s favorite. Maybe Andy just only cares about the MCs.
Wasn't Woody an old toy?
woody was a hand me down yes
why does the buzz toy look nothing like the movie?
Andy got the Dollar Store knock off Zubb Spaceday
cool suits wasted on awful and boring characters
Hos is this a cool suit? It's completely boring. I mean, dark brown, really?
they look cool with their helmets on
if you like grunts, you'd understand
The question is: would Cinemaphile buy this toy?
Why bother asking a question you know the answer to?
>In-universe, either only Buzz and Zurg where releases as figures (With vastly different designs to the movie) or no one bought the others and doubled down on Buzz with new gimmicks..
State of Buzz's toyline.
i think according to the director's COPE lore:
>Buzz's actual toy design was only slightly based off the movie, and it blew up. Then they made the animated TV show (Star Command) based on the toys (???)
>Sox apparently was extremely popular in the 90s and thats why Andy didn't own one
It really just falls apart when they start trying to make sense of this bullshit.
hes a chud
Andy is a racist.
Well it was the 90's there's a good chance they didn't bother to make any toys of her
She ugly
>Why doesn't Andy own any merchandise of her?
Same reason why he doesn't own the robo-cat, it's all bullshit
I fricking hate my generation's writers. They have this idiotic circular logic where it's like "oh, I made a retcon to something that's been around for 25 years that I didn't create, that means it's always been this way, and you have to accept it because I'm holding the speaking stick."

Would you buy a toy of that? screams shelf dust worse than Rey and Rose Tico
For me it's that dead eye thousand yard Anime stare. Why doesn't she look human like Buzz?
>all girl characters
>and hux
large laughter on my part
boys don't like dolls and girls think star wars is stupid.
the force is female, chud
Huxbros… is our boy the equivalent of a useless female character?
yes. i am straight, and yet i love hux. therefor, hux is a woman.
Sh looks like a Space Marine
Why is her armor brown? Isn't that kinda raycist to segregate white's uniforms from blacks uniforms?
I haven't paid attention to it because "diznee shit lol" but the movie is supposed to be the original movie that Andy saw but there was also a weird (not seen) 90's cartoon adaptation and that's what Andy's Buzz toy came from?
a bit convoluted don't you think?
Yes, convoluted and completely unnecessary, but somehow the deluded Pixar writers felt the need to justify the movie's existence that way.
