It's what people want Barbie to be. A feminist movie that's stylish, well made and actually somewhat intelligent. It critiques men, yeah, but also has its fair share of criticisms towards women. Everytime I see guys say their c**t of a gf wanted them to open up, but lost interest once they did, I get reminded of this movie.
Also the main chick is super hot as the pic proves
It's a very clever film and the visuals are stylish but it's a bit of a slow-burn and you have to get used to the deliberately hammy acting. It's worth experiencing but not for everyone.
Because the lighting is unnatural and doesn't draw attention from your eyes in a way that is appealing to most audiences. You're drawn to the naked girl and the guy's face. You might think that's all you need. But audiences would find the shot more aesthetic if the background wasn't so drab, dark and featureless. Additionally, the lighting on the woman and the man is very extreme. They're lit so evenly that there's no contrast so it looks like a spotlight is shining on them.
It makes the whole thing feel low budget and dated. If you prefer it that's fine. But your tastes don't match the majority of the viewing public >inb4 some moron claims it's because it was shot on film versus digital
