      Well-

Actually it was the old homosexual who ran CN at the time, he grew up on looney tunes and thought action shows were trash, proceeded to use his like 40+ years of television experience to engage in rating manipulations to get them all canceled. It killed the last major bastion of this style of animation in the west off and "proved" they were unprofitable, rather than say, that the way rating aggregation functions as it climbs the chain is fricking defective because it hasn't updated for almost 60 years.

This anon's right, between that and the new Transformers bombing like crazy it's a sign we're not really in an age where there are artists capable of making good shows at the helm. GLTAS is downright fantastic as a show, and though it finished it left off plenty that could be expanded and made even better, but there's no monkey paw I'd wish on to bring it back in this climate. It just wouldn't be written by people as talented as who made the first go round, the storylines would be forced to pander for stupid shit that would stick out and drag the good stuff down with it. Star Sapphires alone would send a bad writer into a tizzy thinking they need to fix it and as a result frick it up, because they're bad writers and they're not capable of making good stuff in any area, let alone better stuff.

It would've been better for YJ to remain a could've been than a hasbeen. Don't bother bringing them back, dead is better.Thank god for the metric frickload of anime!

What show are you even referring to from 2023? The only one anyone talked about was JJK, Demon Slayer, Mashle, or the new hotness "Elf who does things but she cute and lasers".

Those shitty woke writers just can't measure up, they don't have the talent, they don't have the skill, and they don't have the creativity. They wish they could manage the Isekai stuff, they're sub-"Dude with black hair in a new work" level. Cept for the Puss and Boots 2 writer. That guy surprised me by being really fricking good.

          >So called woke writers

They tell me they're woke, all the fricking time. Twitter opened up the gates for a shitload of untalented narcissists to preach their opinions unfiltered to the world and they bit that shit like a vegan to a steak when nobody's looking. We don't need to suppose anything about any one, they've already vocally said it and unsurprisingly their work as a result just fricking suck.

That you're clinging to SAO shows you're not even capable of anything more, that show hasn't been relevant since before the cooftimes and hasn't even had a knockoff gain traction since before the election. Just so you can update your fetal position typing of desperation, it's all Demon Slayer and Naruto stuff now. Killing demons in grandiose animated fashion, or fighting with overly complicated magic systems, or both. And particle effects. Lots of particle effects. Bleach came back to find out that everyone suddenly decided it apparently had the right idea the whole time. But you're trying to defend woke writers, you were never smart enough to figure that out on your own.

The animation quality tanked after S1. It looked like their budget had been cut and a lot of action scenes were replaced with still images with voiceovers or scenes with minimal movement (two characters sitting down at a table talking, etc.).

Yes anon I was there. No one was playing east vs west but ultimately people would talk more about Naruto or Bleach than BATB or EMH. We liked these cartoons and the characters but there's an engagement factor missing that makes people obsess over action anime for years.

I'm telling you as someone who was in school back then. People liked the american cartoons well enough but it was anime that got more attention.
You can plug your ears and call it fake all you want, ultimately you still see people talking about bigger shonen shows than action cartoons from this era. Avatar , Ben 10, and Teen Titans are the only American action cartoons I can think of still really inspiring discussion 20 years on outside of fanboy circles(though with TT it's more for the characters than plot)
Capeshit ultimately doesn't lend to the same sort of engagement because in most of these shows the episodes are self contained and there's no real sort of progression for the characters. No skills developed, no sense of accomplishment for the most part, they basically become ok comfort food shows.

The frick you talking about? They're still making action shows. Disney is still putting out animated Marvel shows. DC has been focusing on animated movies because Cartoon Network doesn't give a frick. Ben 10 had that reboot and I don't know what's happening next. We recently had two different He-Man shows and TMNT had Rise, then there was that movie, and maybe another show after that.
