Definitely pr. Disney probably straight up told her she wouldn't be cast for the movie as soon as it was greenlit and let her frame it in a way that would let her save face. Either her agency or disney themselves fed her that line.
No sane actor in Hollywood would ever turn down a part in a potential billion dollar disney movie especially for another actor.
My guess is 90 percent PR speak. SHe's getting a lot of work, and could realistically replace aquafina ad the designated asian. More importantly, some NOT being the designated asian.

Unless their schedule was loaded, or disney was lowballing or "artistic integrity". I'm convinced that it's PR speak.
>Do you think hollywood gives a frick.
I mean, yes, but in a racist way? Like, if you want "an Asian," who gives a shit if they're Japanese, Chinese, or Korean? But Hawaiians/Pacific Islanders/whatever you want to call them don't "look Asian." That's not the look people want when they say "Asian character."
The main problem with Auli'i not playing Moana in the remake is why the frick else are they remaking Moana so goddamn soon if it isn't to capitalize on "While Auli'i is still young enough to play the character"? Especially considering that Dwayne will most likely be playing Maui.
Much older and less convincing actors have played teenagers before. Or, they could just change Moana's age. Her being 16 isn't relevant to the plot, they could tell the exact same story with her being 20.
a live action Moana doesn't need to happen
She probably said no behind closed doors but "helped look" for her replacement as a PR move to save face
I guess she didn’t want to be typecast
I wanna put her fat breasts in my mouth
Chill dude. She’s only 23 years old.
She is of prime healthy breeding age
If they did her breasts would be cgi'd to look smaller like live action Little Mermaid anyway.
Why is Disney scared of natural big breasts?
Because gays are disgusted by women. Pic related is a comment on Stellar Blade
These people are shut-ins. Plenty of women in real life dress in ways that accentuate their assets.
Case in point
She can't. She already ruined herself with a lot of lib crap.
No she didn’t.
Plus she’s bisexual, even hotter.
How do you pronounce Auli'i Cravalho??
As it's spelled.
Ow-Lee-Ee Cra-Val-Yo
She missed the casting couch years by a slim line. Good for her.
She and I will be too busy making babies for her to film. Oh and she wants to give the like 3 other Hawaiian actresses a shot or something.
How do you approach a cutie like this?
Just talk to her.
She said that she wants to open the door for other Pacific Islander actresses after her
She already has her foot in the door, she's fairly successful. But she doesn't want to be the only one
It could just be PR speak, but that's what I read

She's not Asian, though...?
East and South-East Asians, and Pacific Islanders have made an alliance to get treated the same
That's why it's Asian American and Pacific Islander History month (AAPI)
Weird that Native Americans aren't included in that, they're very closely related to east Asians
the Asian Americans basically forced it anyway, I don't think Pacific Islanders are too fond of getting lumped in with them
Do you think hollywood gives a frick.
That shit was made by white people. There's no fricking aliance.

Too pretty and not brown enough. Jokes aside tbey probably want to cast an actual teenager
they gave a digital mastectomy to the little mermaid cause the actress' breasts were too big
I wonder how many millions of dollars Disney spent on de-titting Halle Bailey.

my pessimistic schizo theory is that they want to cast someone with darker skin
She's forty-eight years old.
More forty eight year olds should play Disney Princesses.
She’s 23 you dumb frick.
Holy shit Moana 2 just got confirmed
And Hailey's on it! is dead
There are no coincidences
Too old.
