Why don't they make another Robocop but use the same suit and mannerisms from the older movie?

Why don't they make another Robocop but use the same suit and mannerisms from the older movie? Thats what made him unique. When he can walk like a human being and do backflips and shit it isn't the same which was my biggest issue with the reboot.

    >the mech explodes after one burst-fire shot
This must have been at a later point in the game where Murphy had put a lot of points into his luck, guns, and agility skills while using armor-piercing ammunition of which he had only 8 rounds left after shooting the robot.

Robocop's one of those things that just doesn't really have legs as a franchise, since the whole thing that makes the first movie so good is Alex Murphy's transformation from man into machine, then back into man again. Just giving Murphy more villains to fight kind of misses the point of what that first movie even is, especially if you're going to keep walking back his character development.

I wonder if you could do a story about him trying to fully become Murphy again, reconnect with his old family and so forth, only to have to tackle with the fact that he can't really be that person again.
Of course, it's maybe a little late to be telling that story now. That should have been Robocop 2.

They literally sort of did that in Robocop 2. Murphy's widowed wife sued the police department because Robocop was driving by her house every day

            Anonymous

I'm talking more in the sense of trying to rebuild his old body, and actually meeting with his family, only for them to be horrified by him, and then him ultimately coming to the conclusion that he just has to embrace his role as this crime fighting machine. There's a lot you could do to make it really unsettling and tragic.

              Anonymous

The scene in Robocop 2 where he tells his wife that Alex Murphy is dead and they made this (Robocop) to honor him was already tragic enough, and was Murphy accepting what he is and allowing his family to move on. Nothing else is needed.

How about a movie where Robocop has to deal with his greatest weakness, his white privilege. Create a black version of Robocop that is superior to him in every way yet still gets treated like shit due to his race. Show that even though they are enhanced super robots, race is still their most important asset or detriment.

Another Robocop is coming called Robocop returns, supposedly about it being 25 years in the future and robocop is brought back from OCP storage after he was blown to pieces in a bank robbery 25 years ago, he then comes back and supposedly falls in love with some AI female. Serious directors no longer exist. They will likely butcher this. Actually I love Robocop, I own production used storyboards of the 2nd one, I love Robocop 1 and 2 and I know 1 is a better film but Robocop 2 was my favorite even with all its errors. I have other ones but they are not iconic scenes like this one.

Robocop 2 is awful. Even ignoring how it undermines the whole first movie by turning Murphy back into a robot in direct contradiction of its conclusion, it's lazy as frick with its action. Like how, literally the opening scene, that's havoc in the city etc., and Robocop drives up on some morons robbing a gun store. They blow up his car and you can very clearly see there's nobody in it as the whole thing fricking explodes.
Then the very next scene is a closeup of his leg as he exits the driver's seat in pristine condition.

        come on man

I agree there were tons of scenes where I wish did not exist. I think overall it was a much darker movie than the first one. I remember seeing scenes on some magazines of murphy visiting the graveyard, I want to see that cut. Actually there is a workprint version of robocop 2 that exists that has new scenes but the quality is really degraded, old vhs copy.

It also annoyed me at how OCP were evil in Robocop 2 when he literally just saved their CEO in the first movie.
Does OCP have evil, greedy, and corrupt vice presidents? Yes. But the CEO was the closest to actually caring about the people and also that black guy assistant with the glasses. And for them to change his character so drastically and make him so evil made absolutely no sense. They were the result of a bad society, not the cause.

It's also a shame we never got to see the cute female scientist with glasses ever again.
