first two seasons were decent nothing too special but funny eps spread throughout. s3 saw massive changes to the writers room and they didn't have enough direction for these new writers so they wrote garbage. the trick to a good writers room is a good head writer with a clear vision and understanding of the shows tone, which s3 didn't have and now current head writers are from that new inexperienced team so they're writing garbage as well.
He is incapable of caring about anything due to his discovery and involvement in the multi dimensional and multiverse. It means he has no reason to care about anything that happens because if he wants he can hop dimensions to one where things happen differently. Can even just get a new daughter when one dies
Why did you post a link in response to my post if it wasn't related to the topic?
You made it look like this was in reference to the "pedophile undertones"
Nilhistic garbage for soibeards who think Seth Rogan is funny because "dude weed". Unfunny and tries to pass itself off as "intelligent". Adult Swim was better when 70% of the line up was failed adult cartoons from other networks.
I wasn't saying weed comedies were nilhistic, stupid. Read it again. Show still sucks and I'm sure your friends are impressed that you watch it with a bowl of kid's cereal and a joint because you "never grew up".
i've only seen seasons 1 and 2. They were pretty good. Haven't seen the rest yet and i've only heard bad things. Not sure if i should care seeing as how both the fanbase and antifanbase are morons.
i like them. I am just not fricking moronic and see the show as the best thing ever and some cultural phenomenon. it's a fun watch but not worth all the hype. Also Dan Harmon is a c**t and a cuck.
Season 1 was good
Season 2 was good to decent
I never bothered past the first episode of season 3 because the novelty worn off and i just wasn't interested anymore
As others have said, the first couple seasons were actually funny, except for those God awful ad-libbed episodes where they sit in front of the TV. After that it started leaning into itself and believing its own bullshit, obviously based on the general Reddit audience. Also they hired a bunch of female writers.
Yeah, but not because of the ad-libbed parts. It's when Morty shows Summer what's in the backyard and convinces her to come downstairs and enjoy some TV. That completely changed what I thought about the show, I realized there was something special here.
The first two seasons are good, the third one is meh except for one episode, but the quality recovered in the fourth season. Haven't watched the last one yet.
season 1 and 2 have been kinda good.. but the idiots fall in the same trap that south park falls into..
making season long story shit instead of complete one off episodes like simpsons or earlier south park.. also they toned down rick being a drunk and constantly burping and they started to sniff their own farts.
Too full of itself. The show thinks what it has to say is very important, and that the plot is serious business. It was better when it was Morty shoving alien seeds up his ass to get through alien customs.
I know I'm not smart. I know I'm good at some things even great at one or two but I'm useless at alot.
But not my issue with them. Its fine being smart it's fine having the views they have. But it's cringe to make a show where you portray your personal stance and opinions as if they're better than everyone else's
The quality of the show has been falling apart. I don't think the writers got it anymore. Season 5 was mostly mediocre and forgettable and a few of the episodes even rehash the same plot. The lore episodes were ok but it's not very hard to make a good lore episode because Rick's life is pretty interesting. The more episodic plots weren't very good but I did like the Decoys episode, that felt like a more classic Rick and Morty episode.
One issue is that they aren't committing to one of two directions. One is lore and a overarching plot. Other is staying silly, random none lore or deeper story based stuff.
S1 laughed all the way thru
S2 laughed all the way thru
S3 lets-shit-on-Jerry-and-bitch-about-depression
S4 pretty funny comeback
S5 about half good half bad
Only reasons I'm still remotely interested: Breaking the finite infinite curve means realities where Rick isn't the biggest game in town can now be accessed / access their reality. Rick having to deal with things stronger and smarter than him for the first time will be interesting if done well.
It could be anything but I'd wager (no more than $50) that it will be a nega-writer mouth piece. I don't mean an absolute straw man either. My guess would be a character that is as capable as Rick but motivated by diametrically opposed ideals like faith and community who makes Rick look really bad early on.
There'll be something there that is the reason Rick closed it off. The whole "he did it to separate all the smart Rick's" will be untrue. It'll be something more than that.
The smart Rick's closing off from the rest seems wrong because we know there's dumb Rick's present. Also why would Rick do this when he despises other Rick's. In fact they all depise each other. So why intentionally lock yourself in with each other.
Yeesh. It would only work if this alternate Jerry's history was shown, how he started like "our Jerry" and different life experience turns him into a Chad. Only way it could work, show the work that turned him into a Chad.

All the characters are incredibly shallow beyond that. Morty is a Marty stand-in but more naive and pathetic, less a character your meant to identify with and more a foil to Rick’s insanity. Beth is an alcoholic, self absorbed b***h. Jerry is a walking punchline for how pathetic he is. And Summer is barely a character, she’s just the sister that they cram in. Basically the entire family is unlikeable, regardless of how they try and flesh them out or humanize them.
The show could work as self contained wacky sci-fi themed adventures but trying to make it have an on-going plot and mirror/parody a family sitcom is a terrible idea with how shitty all the characters in the family are.
It's beevus and butthead tier. Deserves to be a niche late night cartoon. And it would've been better for it. Could've been experimental and weird. more outrageous and controversial.

The rest of the family would be better if they all didn't behave like Rick. Only Jerry is still his own person, Beth, Summer, and Morty all behave like mini-Ricks. They're act so sarcastic and above it all when those should be Rick traits only. The show's tone in general has been swallowed by this cynicism.
All the best episodes of Rick and Morty are done by people not connected with its regular production. The ones they outsourced to Japanese studios and the bush world adventure episode.
Because the writers clearly don't like me.
It's like they have Twitter on-screen in the writer's room that they watch intently, and every time they come across some fan feedback like "I wish I knew Rick's backstory" or "I just like episodic shows" the writers furiously scribble down some epic subversion to mock them, even if the feedback is contradictory. The writers should have crafted each story with the humility and wonder that Morty would have, instead of the "I'm so over this" cynicism that Rick has. If you're telling your audience that they're stupid nazis for caring, they won't watch.
I watched a few episodes from the first season. It's entertaining enough, I guess, don't know what the big deal is. The fanbase is completely moronic and makes it impossible to like the show.
It gets worse the longer it plays. S5 was fricking horrible. Just absolute dogshit toxic relationship drama skinned as character lore/growth. Watching those after-episode clips of the people who worked on it was gross.

This. Never let a fanbase/anti-fanbase ruin your enjoyment of something,
>Yes. I do not let the opinion of a board full of brainlet, contrarian incels change my mind.
Anything after season 2 is the reason
What's the difference between the seasons
1 & 2 has mostly funny episodes with fun premises. Some episodes have surprising pivots to being serious and/or sincere.
3 & 4 stink of forced-in feminism, unfunny and forgettable episodes.
Season 5 only has 3 funny episodes: the 1st episode and the last 2 episodes. The rest are either trash or forgettable.
Feminism always ruins everything
The further on in the seasons the more obtrusive the creators fetishes become
The thanksgiving episode was the best of season 5
Seasons 1 and 2 were funny, had some fun episode premises, and the characters had personalities.
Season 3+ has not been funny, everything is le ultra ironic and depressing, and the character act like they've been writing them for 20 years already and don't know what to do with them.

Its not supposed to be funny. This was my mistake when I first watched it also. But now I enjoy it for its continuity.

It's literally a cartoon show built around making fun of mainstream subjects in a comedic way. With toilet humour to fill in the rest
Even season 2 was hit or miss tbh.

Consodering how slowly it died out, even reddit probably dislikes it now. It is safe foe you to like it.
I do, but the act has gotten a bit stale last few seasons. I did like the Mr Nimbus episode though.
Reminder that The Simpsons stayed good for 7-10 seasons (depending on who you ask).
"It went downhill after season 2-3" is such a common criticism I don't watch new TV any more.

Rewatch the simpsons, it was always garbage.

Unironically the pedophile undertones. I like the show, I identify with Rick, but it puts uncomfortable toes across that line that makes me recoil.
>I identify with Rick
I think he's just druk and miserable and doubt he claims to be a genius
he's relatable if you view him like that
Also bored, lonely, bitter about both and surrounded by people who can't possibly understand.
He is incapable of caring about anything due to his discovery and involvement in the multi dimensional and multiverse. There are Reddit tier cringe gays that ruin it and then incel poltards that hate it just because libs love it

The artwork and animation is not an issue at first because the point of the show was to be a rough, rude, in your face piece of material.
Now though it's not what it was so the art and animation style doesn't fit
Only reasons I'm still remotely interested: Breaking the finite infinite curve means realities where Rick isn't the biggest game in town can now be accessed / access their reality. Rick having to deal with things stronger and smarter than him for the first time will be interesting if done well.

Idk Rick has gotten his ass kicked before. Hell Doofus Jerry took over the citadel of Ricks and beat the shit out of normal Rick.
There'll be something there that is the reason Rick closed it off. The whole "he did it to separate all the smart Rick's" will be untrue. It'll be something more than that.

There are Ricks outside the finite curve thing you know. They are just not top Dog
So surely the egotistic Rick would more likely want to be among the dumb Rick's who aren't a threat.
Instead he supposedly closed himself in with the Rick's who could be a threat to him? Intentionally Made his life harder and more dangerous
Better the devil you know than the devil you don't.
If they end up borrowing from the comics it'll end up being Jerry
Yeesh. It would only work if this alternate Jerry's history was shown, how he started like "our Jerry" and different life experience turns him into a Chad. Only way it could work, show the work that turned him into a Chad.

There’s a difference between having a dysfunctional family and a family made up of one dimensional characters. None of the Smiths have any depth. They’re all one note. They’re less a family and more a bunch of cardboard cut outs of a family.
This ensuring as many as possible people project onto them while watching the episode naturally rather than applying standards to doing so.
