Fantasy has a problem with normies seeing it as goofy and wacky. A series that tries to use European history to inform and revise the genre is more appealing to normies because they are more grounded and "realistic." A Song of Ice and Fire and The Witcher are the best examples of such book series. This is why HotD is doing better, even though they nigged up the cast too much. Netflix's The Witcher went full moron with the nig-casting. Even if brainwashed normies won't admit it, nig-casting spends part of the leeway these series have for goofiness or being unrealistic. Rings of Power is more fantastical so it has even less of a margin for wackiness than the rest, so it shouldn't have had nig-casting at all.
I tried watching RoP and it's honestly just boring. Most of the characters are unlikable except for that one dude who may or may not be Sauron. I don't care all that much about whether or not it's faithful to the books (never read them, probably never will), but the show as it is has nothing interesting going on. >B-but muh 1 billion dollar budget!
