Late zoomer here (age 26), I watched it on its original broadcast run from about midway through S1 to the finale of S6. As a kid, I cared more about the main plot on the island and its mysteries than the backstories of the characters and the flashbacks. The most hype moment I remember from then was the season 3 finale and the most memorable plots were the raft and the hatch. I did forget a lot of stuff too though, mainly in the last 3 seasons, such as what the deal with the temple was or what the actual ending itself was
I rewatched in 2020 and I thought it held up pretty well tbh. As an adult, I now realise the show was about the characters and their backstories more than the mystery of the island itself. The plot also seemed a lot less convoluted than I remembered and everything is explained (whether you like the given explanations or not) so I don't think it's fair to criticise it for not making sense. I definitely had much more of an appreciation for the flashbacks now and I thought the Dharmaville plot was comfy
It already sorta happened during covid, but the ending being bad kinda prevented it from being truly appreciated by zoomers unlike something like Breaking Bad
The premise still works and if treated right could easily be recreated today as a hit miniseries.
The problem is science fiction was ruined by the 2010s so people today only want the realness of the characters, not Smoke Monsters and time travel.
The first 3 seasons are great. S2 drama with the hatch is pure crack. LOST would’ve been better if it wasn’t on a cable network channel. It needed to be more refined. There were too many pointless subplots like Bernard and Rose. Seasons were padded out for commercial airtime
I also rewatched it recently, that drop off after season 3 is noticeable (there's definitely still some good moments though). But Holy shit is season 6 bad. It feels like filler, especially after you already know what the flash sideways is. I will say though that I enjoyed Jack a lot more on a rewatch
The show up through Season 5 was experimenting and drawing plots from a deep barrel. They knew Season 6 was the last so they wasted everyone's time trying to tie everything together. It's like eating several courses of sushi before being given a chunk of ginger to "cleanse the pallet".
It was always moronic because it had no defined direction. israelite israelite abrahams is incapable of making a compelling narrative or arc. Just a randomly strung together amalgamation of events that seem relevant and interesting

I feel like it needs to be pointed out that Abrams wasn't really involved with LOST beyond the first episode.

I probably couldn't tell you, as I mentioned I never really got into the show. My perception from the outside in is that it is one long "lead the audience by the mystery nose" stretch until the end, so if that's incorrect, then my opinion may shift.
The core mystery didn't reveal itself for a while
The first mysteries are who are the others, and why did the plane crash, which are both revealed about halfway through
The mystery then changes to the dharma initiative, which is revealed well before the end
The final mystery re. Jacob is purely a final season mystery

Let me ask you this: are these separate mysteries chained together? In other words, does solving one mystery beget a new mystery? If so, these are all the core mystery, and not new arcs.

Yes. "Resolving" a mystery by immediately necessitating a new mystery to answer the implications of the old isn't an actual resolution, just a change of costume.

Sawyer isn't politically correct because of his behavior, actions and words, not because of who he is or what he looks like. He has too much of "real" bad qualities, not ones that have been PG-13-ized.

Rose was crucial in confirming early on to the viewers that the Island was magic and that Locke wasn't just some crazy dude.
